THE AMUNDI EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

July 12, 2025

Minjee Lee

Evian-les-Bains, France

Evian Resort Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Minjee Lee after her third round at the Amundi Evian Championship. Another solid round today. Can you just talk us through today a little bit?

MINJEE LEE: Yeah, I turned in 3-under, so it was nice to -- it was kind of pretty steady. Like I didn't make too many big mistakes. When I was like a little off the fairway or green I was able to get up and down. Had a couple clutch par putts to keep my momentum going. I had 2-under the back; no bogeys. It's always nice to have a bogey-free round.

Q. Your putting has been such a big game changer for you this season; averaging 28 putts this week. What is it about the greens that you're seeing differently this year than maybe in years past?

MINJEE LEE: Actually I feel like I am struggling a little bit with the pace. Like it feels like -- it looks quicker but it actually has not been rolling out as much as I had been thinking.

So I think the ones at that range have come up quite short a few of the times. So I feel like my short putts, yes, I feel really good about those, but I feel like I could clean up a little bit of the longer putts and the ones that get like 25, 30 feet.

Q. Are you playing more relaxed do you feel like after the win at KPMG?

MINJEE LEE: I'm usually always pretty relaxed, but I definitely feel like I have a different mentality and maybe a little bit different fire in me after KPMG.

I definitely have a little different motivation I think coming off that win. So, yeah, I just feel like I'm in a really good position right now and, you know, can chase tomorrow.

Q. Obviously a champion, past champion here. Do you feel like when you're chasing, near the top, do you think having that past experience of winning here helps you?

MINJEE LEE: Yeah, definitely. I think just knowing the course. I mean, I've played it quite a few times now, so have quite a lot of rounds and been in a lot of different places.

I pretty much know what everything is going to do, so I think that helps like better places to put it or if you do miss it in a certain spot how to get up and down or how to use the contours of the greens.

Yeah, I definitely think I have -- I mean, yeah, not an advantage, but I definitely know where things are going, yeah.

Q. Looking at the leaderboard, three or four Aussies up in the top 10. That's happened a few times this season. What is it about here specifically this lets Aussies play so well and be in contention?

MINJEE LEE: I think a lot of the girls are very good ball strikers. Definitely in Australia we play with a little bit of wind, so we definitely have I think the ball striking -- they all know how to hit like on flat lies, so it's just more reading the lies, adjusting when you have to. We don't have a flat lie out there. Maybe on the tee boxes only. Maybe even not on the tee boxes.

Yeah, I just think just solid ball striking and they have good like imagination and creativity. So I think, yeah, maybe it's that.

Q. I was going to ask, after the past two days what was your mindset heading into today?

MINJEE LEE: I think after yesterday I felt really proud of myself for fighting back after the start I had. I just, I don't know, I think something just -- I was like, I cannot end the round like this, so I just really fought back.

I don't know. I just felt like a good round today would put me in a pretty decent position come Sunday and I think I've done a pretty good job of that. So, yeah.

Q. How does this position compare to four years ago when you trailed by seven?

MINJEE LEE: Yeah, so totally different. Obviously I was way back and I shot a really good score on Sunday to get into that playoff.

So I think going into that I wasn't like expecting to shoot like a score like that, but then I did and I was obviously happy. I was really clutch in the playoff, so that really brings back great memories. It feels like a lifetime ago really. Four years, that sounds like a long time.

But, yeah, just going to be different because I'll be -- I'll probably be a couple shots back and chasing this time. Just be a little bit different.

Q. What are your thoughts seeing Grace and Gabi in the lead as well?

MINJEE LEE: Yeah, it's great. It's fantastic. I'm really happy for them that they're playing really well and obviously this is a major championship, so I'm sure they're really motivated to play well.

I just think it's great. I've seen them since the they were really young and coming up. I was on Tour already, so I kind of saw their amateur careers coming through to pro. So it's kind of a full circle moment now seeing them doing so well.
