Quick Quotes
Q. All right, Cass, Evian debut, first-ever round here, and you shot 4-under par; really impressive start. What worked well for you out there today?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Yeah, I played really nicely. Kept it very tidy, one bogey I think on the scorecard, which always helps because then your birdies actually mean something.
I played Evian before; different conditions. Obviously wasn't the major; it was for the Jabra. Yeah, happy to be back and happy with my round.
Q. Just give us an idea how different is it to playing the Jabra. How is the course set up?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: A lot different. Rough is up. Fairways are cut more narrow. Greens are fast. Pin positions are tough. I can name a whole list.
It's definitely different. I think that's what majors are all about. It has to be tougher than the general golf tournament.
So, yeah, I enjoyed it.
Q. Last time we saw you it was that incredible final round in Czech; you won the title; eagle finish; made your way here. The confidence must be sky high right now.
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Yeah, definitely. I've had a good year so far if I take the whole year and sum it up already, so it's been great. A lot of positives. Couple negatives as we know.
So I think it's also just nice to have a different perspective. Golf isn't everything. When you think that way you end up playing well.
Yeah, it's been good and I'm happy, and hopefully we can carry on.
Q. Yeah, it was your debut in a major last year at the AIG. You had that really impressive performance. No?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: No. Try again. Year before that. Muirfield Open. Yeah, so I had a good finish last year at the Open so at least I get into this one this year, which I can pay less for accommodation than I did after a Monday qualifier.
So, yeah, looking forward to that, too. Nice to have two majors in instinct four weeks. Pretty cool. We've got big events coming up and I'm excited for them.
Q. But given that performance last year at AIG and today, how much is it a sense of belonging out here playing with the LPGA players now?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Yeah, definitely. The goal is to go to LPGA. Probably go to Q-School at the end of the year. Or just try and win this and not have to do that.
The plan is Q-School at the end of the year. It's always nice when you're playing against the best and doing half decent and playing well. It gives you a sense of belonging, like you said. You feel like you can compete.
Yeah, really happy about that.
Q. And just finally, in your group today, playing with Aditi.
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Yeah, always enjoy playing with her. We miss her out on the LET. We always have a good laugh. And she's fast, which is nice.
Q. Do you think the majors is the real test of where your game is?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Of course. It's always harder.
