Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Minjee Lee after her first round at the Amundi Evian Championship. Solid round today. Can you just describe how your played went out there?
MINJEE LEE: I felt like I hit a lot of good drives, but I had a few that I didn't obviously hit that well. So I would say it went pretty solid overall, but I think there is a few things that I could clean up.
You know, I made a lot of good up and downs today. Actually didn't really think about the altitude, but I do think it went a tiny bit longer than I was expecting I think maybe with a little bit drier and less cloudy conditions today.
Yeah, overall pretty solid day. Had 5-under, one bogey, so, yeah, that's good.
Q. I was going to ask about the course conditions compared to the past couple days. What was it like out there today?
MINJEE LEE: Yeah, so the first nine I think it was pretty similar to the practice round and even the pro-am yesterday. I definitely think it started drying out the front nine, which was my back nine. So, yeah, the front nine felt like the ball was releasing a little more on the greens, especially in the back parts of them.
So, yeah, I just think every day it's going to get drier and drier, especially with the nice conditions for the next few days. So, yeah, maybe just get a little bit tougher each day especially being a major.
Q. You spoke earlier this month about having such good memories here at Evian. How does the atmosphere here compare to other majors?
MINJEE LEE: I think it's a little bit different. Obviously I've played many years at the same venue in Evian and all the other majors we kind of go to new venues each time.
I think I feel like I just remember a lot more here just from my very first time being here in '14 and then obviously winning in '21.
So just feels -- I feel like the years go by this a blur but all the memories and vibes come back obviously every time I am back, once I'm here.
Yeah, no, it's just nice to be able to remember all the good little things here and there and just notice things that have changed, yeah.
Q. What sort of things do you love coming back to Evian for? What is your favorite thing here?
MINJEE LEE: Used to be the pastries, but because I can't eat them anymore, the views. Always love the views. I think the Royal Hotel views are so amazing.
I just open my balcony and it's so nice. Probably just the views and just how bright everything is, yeah.
