Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Brendan Lawlor. 3-under 69 out there today. Another terrific round. Put yourself in good position. Talk through the round today.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, I got off to a pretty good start today. Birdied the first hole, which is always a bonus.
Hit it pretty good all day. Didn't put myself in much trouble. Kind of was pretty solid. The last two days I didn't take advantage of the par-5s, so that's something I'm going to try and do tomorrow. Try and get a few birdies, maybe an eagle.
7-under after two days, one bogey, so I'm pretty happy.
Q. Looks like you're going to be chasing down Kipp, who I believe you're staying with this week.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: No, I think Mike Browne is.
Q. That's right. But you and Kipp are very good pals.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah.
Q. What's it going to take tomorrow to chase him down?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, like all credit to Kipp shooting 11-under the first day. It's absolutely incredible. I said it in interview before, even an able-bodied person to shoot 11-under on TOUR is sick, so for someone with a disability to do it is I'm going to say slightly more impressive.
Full credit to him. It's going to bring so many eyes on this week for people like us that can go out and shoot them numbers.
Again, I'm just going to go out and give it my best. I came third here last year. Am I going to win tomorrow? I don't know. I'll have to see what Kipp does this afternoon. I know seven shots out there is a lot, but there is a lot of birdie chances too to put a bit of pressure on him.
I'm definitely going to go out and go for everything I can tomorrow and see what I can do.
Q. You'll probably be in the final group with him. There will be two hours of live coverage on Golf Channel. How exciting is that going to be tomorrow?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: That's amazing. I think what we do we need people to see. It's way more powerful when people can see what we do.
For Golf Channel to show what these guys can do on the course, it's going to inspire the next generation and bring so many players into the game. It gives us unbelievable TV time, something we don't get much.
It'll keep all my sponsors happy as well. I'm absolutely delighted.
Q. It's not only the expanded broadcast, but USGA partner Deloitte is providing some stipends for you all for travel. How important is that, and do you hope to see that across the adaptive game?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: It's absolutely huge. A lot of these guys can't travel to tournaments because the expense of them is so high. For you guys to do that is absolutely incredible. It brought so many more people here, more better players, more people of the same environment.
Yeah, we need to see more of that to be honest. If we could get something like that to happen in England, Ireland, other countries, it would be huge. And then events like this if it goes so well, we can maybe start introducing prize money into these events as well.
That's a huge goal mine. I'm doing this six, seven years now and we're striving for that next step. There is more and more good players coming in. We're shooting the scores trying to make it happen.
Q. You are certainly Irish. You don't have a lot 100 degree days over in Ireland. How did you deal with that out there?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, this is my climate here: cold. Yeah, I felt I dealt with the heat pretty well today. A lot of water, a lot of electrolytes, staying in the shade as much as I can.
Yeah, wasn't too bad. I do a lot of traveling around the world in hot countries like this. It never gets old. Yeah, wasn't too bad.
