U.S. ADAPTIVE OPEN

July 8, 2025

Cassie Sengul

Rockville, Maryland, USA

Woodmont Country Club (South Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Cassie Sengul; a 3-over 75, which is the second-best score recorded so far this week on the women's side. Just talk us through the round today.

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah, so it was pretty hard out there. Just tough greens, so just trying to get on in regulation, two putt was a thing and that was happening.

So just waiting for that birdie and being patient.

Q. Do you think the good rounds out there come from no big numbers? No double bogeys on the card; just a few bogeys and a birdie.

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah, I've seen -- usually when I have a double bogey it results in bigger numbers, so I think this is my actually first double-bogey free round, so just being able to shoot low was great out there.

Q. What about the course just fits your eye? You're playing well this week. You're very familiar with the golf course. Do you think that has something to do with it?

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah, so my driver has been great this week almost hitting every fairway, so just setting myself up perfectly, and just knowing how the greens are going to play out has really helped me and helped me shoot the score today.

Q. Three-shot lead going into tomorrow.

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah.

Q. What's the game plan? You said you're happy that you're with Kim in that final group so you can keep an eye on her. She's right on your tail. What's the game plan for tomorrow?

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah, just keep it simple. Do what I did today. Just get on in regulation, just try to two putt, par, and just move on to get that birdie.

Q. Thinking big picture here, tomorrow you guys will be live on the Golf Channel for the first time from 2:00 to 4:00. How cool is that and how important is that for the adaptive game?

CASSIE SENGUL: It's really cool just getting to represent this area, being from here. It's really special to see that there are people are from all over the country and world competing in adaptive golf, and you don't know, they may be just down your street.

So just venturing out and trying a new support if you have a disability is just a great way to make yourself a part of a community.

Q. It's not just the expanded broadcast coverage, but the USGA partner Deloitte is coming in to provide some travel stipends for you all. How important is that for the adaptive game, and how do you think that helps all the athletes this week?

CASSIE SENGUL: Yeah, adaptive golf really starts to rack up after a while, and I know a lot of people do adaptive golf, like this is their job. So getting these expenses covered helps a lot of people come to these events, because it does get expensive and I know some people aren't able to attend these events because of the money conflict.
