U.S. ADAPTIVE OPEN

July 8, 2025

Kipp Popert

Rockville, Maryland, USA

Woodmont Country Club (South Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Kipp Popert. Boring 6-under 66 today. Making it look pretty easy out there. Talk us through that second round.

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, really pleased how I played. Started very solid. I didn't maybe hit it as well as yesterday, but I've never shot 11-under before, so...

But I putted really well. Putter was really good today. Yeah, just the middle of the round was the toughest part. It started to get a bit windy and I hit a few poor drives. I made a birdie on 4 I think and then I was like, okay, here we go, and then, yeah, the rest I played pretty well.

Q. Ten shot lead over your buddy Brendan going into tomorrow. What's the game plan? Maybe pedal to the metal or play a little more conservative?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, I'll just keep trying to play each shot as best I can. Yeah, I think the game plan is working, so won't change it.

Q. Obviously at the top the game; No. 1 player in the world. Coming into an event like this and Deloitte coming on as a sponsor, how important is that for the adaptive game to have the stipends for the travel reimbursements?

KIPP POPERT: It's absolutely incredible. It's so needed and so appreciated. So many players aren't fortunate like myself to have sponsors. I am able to play full time at the moment. There are only a couple of us that are in that situation.

So for all the players coming to these championships we want the tournaments to be as tough as it can be and have as many of our friends playing, and so many players need the help to get here.

So I'm extremely appreciative of the Deloitte, and I would love to keep working and keep trying to make this championship as big as possible.

Q. They are also helping with some expanded broadcast. Tomorrow you're going to be live on the Golf Channel from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for the first time ever. How sweet is that going to be?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, again, incredible. For all the players to get exposure they deserve and, again, going back to sponsorship it's so important. I am really excited for the future of the Adaptive Open, and I'm just going to try to keep grow it as big as I can.

Q. How did your toe feel out there today?

KIPP POPERT: How did my what?

Q. How did your leg feel?

KIPP POPERT: Oh, it felt better. I've been sort of dosing up quite high, but it felt pretty good. The adrenaline helps. Yeah, be back on crutches this evening to try and make sure it's okay for tomorrow.
