U.S. ADAPTIVE OPEN

July 8, 2025

Lachlan Wood

Rockville, Maryland, USA

Woodmont Country Club (South Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. 3-under today. How would you evaluate your play and any memorable shots or moments out there today?

LACHLAN WOOD: I started with a nice putt for birdie on the first, which was a good sort of settler.

Yeah, I played consistent, like I did yesterday. Missed plenty of short putts, like I did yesterday. So the game is there. If the putts roll in, you know, anything is possible.

But, yeah, there was a big -- missed a really short putt in the middle of the round. Carried that over into 9; made bogey.

Still carried it into 11. Hit it into a spot where I had to take an unplayable and reset from there, and still managed to salvage somewhat of the round.

Q. What does this championship mean to you and your fellow competitors?

LACHLAN WOOD: Like it's the biggest event that we play. This is the, how do you say, this would be the prime example of what inclusivity is, adaptive golf is. Me being the only Australian coming over, I really hope to see Golf Australia come over and witness how well you guys do this.

There is a similar event in the UK, but I believe this sets the standard. This means a lot. We want this to get bigger and better so hopefully the world catches on and everyone else makes their events better and better and takes a leaf out of your book and then we all benefit.

Q. Yeah. Two hours tomorrow on Golf Channel. It will be huge for exposure for this event and you guys.

LACHLAN WOOD: 100%. We've never had that exposure before. Grateful to have that. Grateful for the support, what do you call it, the reimbursement. That was a last minute surprise for me. It's a small dent in the cost, but it at least helps. It's money I never had.

It's getting better and better every year, so hopefully we can build on it next year as well.

Q. Any other specifics that happened here at this championship that just elevate the event?

LACHLAN WOOD: 100%. From the moment you pull up you've got winner's car parks, inclusive car packs, you've got bag drop. Just takes the pressure off your shoulders. You've got facilities and medical just begging to get you on the table to help you whatever they can do.

You can recover after the round. You get treated better than a member here. You know, so just the facilities and the, you know, what we've got on the range, how easy it is. You can drive your cart up to the tee block. You're not carrying your clubs, you're not walking 50 meters with your clubs from your car or 100 meters or more to get your clubs in.

Small things like that add up, especially with -- I've got a minor disability in what I see, but for other people with big disabilities it's like those small things add up massively.

Imagine, you know, walking through an airport with one arm or one leg. How do you get your luggage through, a golf bag and a suitcase, do you know what I mean? I traveled through three airports to get here and I think I did 9000 steps, and that was the bare minimum.

It was like I had walked 36 holes before just trying to fly here lugging three bags and you've only got two arms, yeah.
