Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Kim Moore, 2-over 74 today. Great playing. You are currently sitting in pole position in the first slot here. So can you just talk us through the round out there today? Obviously played pretty well and put yourself in a great position.
KIM MOORE: Yeah, definitely left some shots out there. Had a couple bogeys. Had a three-putt out there that, you know, kind of came out of nowhere.
But had a couple birdies on the par-5s. Didn't make all the birdie putts that I thought I could have made, but I gave myself chances and that's what it's about.
Happy with the round. Happy how I finished with a nice par save. Yeah, just excited to at least put on a good round. Can't win it on the first day, but you want to start off strong.
Q. Is that the mindset you'll take into tomorrow? I know you're a former champion of this event, so you've certainly been here before. How do you start to stack rounds together and continue on?
KIM MOORE: Yeah, I think my caddie David and I, we put together a good game plan to keep the ball in the fairway, hit greens, and I think that's going to be my game plan again for tomorrow and probably the last day.
I think if I can just continue making pars and maybe throw in a few birdies on some of those birdie holes, it's tough to make putts out there on some of these greens, so if I can just keep hitting greens I think that's a good strategy and that's what I'm going to continue to try to go with.
Q. Have you noticed some of the changes that Woodmont has made here with the adaptive golfer in mind? You can get really close to the greens; the bunkers are easy to get in and out of; some of the teeing areas are way forward in the fairways. Can you just speak to that a little bit?
KIM MOORE: Yeah, they definitely adapted to the event. Yeah, the bunkers are pretty big, but they definitely have access, which is nice. There's only, what, five bunkers out there that a seated player can't really get into, which is not very many.
That's great. So they've really done a great job accommodating, and with a lot of the holes, especially on the front nine, where you come off the green and the tee box is kind of connected. So just makes it a lot easier to be way more accessible for a lot of players.
You can really tell and you can really tell that Woodmont really loves having us out here. We love being out here, so it's been great so far.
Q. How cool is it just to be back here? This is your fourth time here at the U.S. Adaptive Open. How cool is it to be here your fellow competitors and the camaraderie that you all have? It seems pretty special from my point of view.
KIM MOORE: Yeah, it's like a family reunion every time, especially on the women's side, right? There is definitely more women than there has been, especially at the beginning. We've grown in four years, but you still see a lot of the same people, which is awesome.
So, yeah, it's like a family reunion coming home and you know a lot of players and they know you and everybody is rooting each other on. It's like a big family.
Even on the men's side, too. You know so many people and just the adaptive golf community is so inclusive and welcoming. Any time we can go to a USGA Championship and have basically a family reunion is super special.
