Quick Quotes
Q. First, nice playing today.
AMANDA CUNHA: Oh, thank you.
Q. How would you evaluate your round and any memorable shots out there?
AMANDA CUNHA: I really just tried to keep it even. Like I didn't want to have super high moments where like my energy was super high or low; kind of just content and in the middle.
Any notable areas in my round? I don't even remember right now.
I had a decent drive on a few of the holes; that helped a lot.
Oh, yeah, I do know actually. On hole 1 but my hole 10 I overshot the green with a drive. I was like maybe 20 yards beyond the flag.
So that was the good drive, yeah.
Q. Excellent. What does this championship mean for you and your fellow competitors?
AMANDA CUNHA: Yeah, just gives us an opportunity to play the best courses in great conditions, and gives us the chance to -- or allows the USGA to offer us a spot to shine light on this community. I feel like sometimes it can get lost in a lot of the media when we try to do it, so having the USGA backing us up really helps.
Q. Not your first Adaptive Open. How have you seen this championship elevate and grow since you started?
AMANDA CUNHA: Yeah, I mean, we started off at Pinehurst so it's hard to really go up from there. I think just the care and the effort that has been shown, even throughout the first year, but it's just grown more since then.
That's the mart that we love to see. I just really love everything that USGA has put into it.
Q. Can you talk about the adaptive program at the University of Arizona.
AMANDA CUNHA: Yeah, so three years ago the University of Arizona started -- not started, but I guess we rebooted the adaptive golf program, and that was giving the chance for students who want to go to college the chance to play collegiate golf.
I was the first golfer on scholarship, which was pretty awesome. We have grown it -- I was the only one my freshman year and we've grown it to having five players on it and one honorable player.
So it's pretty amazing to see it develop and see how much me and the athletic director and our coach, Dennis Schmelzel, have put into this program.
