U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

June 29, 2025

Paul Stankowski

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The Broadmoor (East Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. How did you finish your round? What did you think?

PAUL STANKOWSKI: You know, today was a battle. Sundays late in the day, you know, major championships are nerve-wracking but it was a great pairing with Miguel and Billy.

I executed my game plan. Didn't execute every shot perfectly but I stuck to my game plan all day. Didn't make any putts. The last couple days I made some really nice par saves and some great birdie putts.

Nothing of length but those 10- to 15-footers, 20-footers. Today I didn't make any. Made one birdie. It was on my 17th hole there.

Made a good par putt on one hole from about 15 feet. Other than that, those are my two putts I made over six feet.

You know, it was tough. I was even below the hole a lot and purposely tried to get myself below the hole to give myself the best attempts. Seems like the only putts I made this week was downhillers. Maybe next time I'll try to be above the hole here, which you don't really want to do at the Broadmoor. Putting away from the mountains is quick.

Pleased with way I struck it. Kept to my game plan. Just didn't make enough putts at the end to do really well.

Q. You have to be happy with the top 10; let's talk about top 15 and the exemption for next year.

PAUL STANKOWSKI: Yeah, nice to know I'll be getting to know Scioto. 2018 I caddied for my brother here. He played three Senior Opens his first three times and played her, here, Scioto, and Salem.

My son and I went to Scioto tote and followed. Here I got to caddie and Josh got to come out and watch. To be back playing with this time and Josh on my bag and my brother at home, it's got cancer, it's a -- yeah.

Anyway, I wish he was here, so. Pleased with how I played. There is a bigger picture.

Q. Playing the same courses, too that he played, too?

PAUL STANKOWSKI: Yeah, same rotation. So it's pretty cool. I don't even know which holes on which course we played but came out here and played in a ministry event fundraiser a year after and it was on -- played the west and the east. I was like I remember this hole. Like I don't remember this hole.

So it was pretty funny. Great place. Brood moor is a beautiful location. The golf course is hard. We probably got the easiest we would get this golf course just because of the rains we had early in the week. It was receptive. This course with no water on the ground is brutal.

So that's why the scoring was a little bit lower than I think the USGA would like. But you can't do anything about nature and the rain. But it was great. Course was in this great shape. Always fun to compete. I cannot wait -- I'm glad I'm done because I need a week off.
