U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

June 28, 2025

Steve Flesch

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The Broadmoor (East Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Best round of the tournament so far. Anything you did differently to make that happen?

STEVE FLESCH: I putted a little bit better today. Had a little bit more -- actually, my numbers into the greens were better. Yesterday, I swear, every number I had was an in between number, and just where the pins were, the leaves were tough, tough two putts on these greens.

So today the numbers were better. Hit a few more good shots, had a lot more good looks.

Greens are tricky, a lot of break in them. They're fast. If you're above the hole, they're brutally difficult. Just had a few better numbers today, hit a lot of good shots. Just a little better than the first two days.

Q. Pretty consistent back nine for you, the one birdie, almost the second birdie on 18. Talk about that last putt.

STEVE FLESCH: It's just, what, seven, eight feet, but it's got a foot of break in it. It's uphill, but just matching the speed and the line is tough. Hit a good putt, just missed it. Made a lot of good putts today. Holed out nicely, three and four-footers, and my lag putting was really good today.

That's what it takes to play a golf course like Broadmoor. The greens are not that -- not that the greens are everything here by any stretch, but the greens are certainly a big factor as well. My short game's been really good the first three days. Look forward to tomorrow.

Q. How do you feel about your position going into tomorrow?

STEVE FLESCH: With where I am, maybe four back, I've got to play a little better. I've got to maybe try and fit a few more clubs in, if my numbers aren't matching up perfectly. Length is a big advantage on this golf course, and Stewart and Padraig both kill it.

It's really important for me to get the ball in the fairway. I'm not short, but I'm not a bomber like those guys. I need to play out of the fairway. That's what I'm going to focus on playing tomorrow. Get the ball in play first, which I've done a pretty good job of the first three days. Hopefully get the putter on fire a little bit and see what happens.
