U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

June 27, 2025

Chris Devlin

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The Broadmoor (East Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Why don't you talk about your round. You hit six birds?

CHRIS DEVLIN: It was really -- yesterday was a rough day for me. I really struggled with the pace of the greens. I was expecting the greens to be a lot faster than they were, and then the rain softened them up a little bit. I just struggled with the pace all day, had a lot of three-putts. I just left the ball in the wrong places in certain parts of the round and couldn't get any momentum going.

It was good today to bounce back and get everything back where it's supposed to be.

Q. Strategy for today for you?

CHRIS DEVLIN: Strategy, obviously I had to be aggressive because I had to get myself back in it. At the same time, there's no room for aggressiveness on this golf course. You have to be really smart, leave it in the right places.

John, my caddie, helped me, trying to keep the ball below the hole when you can and being aggressive when you can. That's all you can do.

Q. The course, is it drying out? What is it to you here?

CHRIS DEVLIN: It dried out really quick. I was expecting it to be a little softer for at least eight holes this morning. It only lasted like three. So it's drying out for sure. Hopefully there won't be any more rain so they can dry out even more this afternoon.

Yeah, happy with the round and happy to bounce back.

Q. Good front?

CHRIS DEVLIN: Yeah, very good front. I had to have it. Again, I played really well on my first nine today, the back nine, and I just, again, was struggling to get any momentum on my side, to get things going. Happy to get on that front nine.

I said to John, we were playing the first hole, which was my 10th hole, I said I've got to shoot at least 3-under, and I went out and shot 4. So it was good.

Q. What's your Graeme McDowell relationship, the story about that?

CHRIS DEVLIN: Graeme and I are good friends. We kind of grew up in Ireland together. He and I were good friends growing up. We were both members of Royal Portrush. So when I was in college over here at UAB, I kind of recruited Graeme to come over with me. He was a number of years younger than me. So he came over, and we only unfortunately got to play one year together.

It worked out for him. He did really well.

Q. What kind of beer do you like? You're Irish.

CHRIS DEVLIN: Beer? I'm in the Rockies this week, so it has to be Coors Light.
