U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

June 26, 2025

Thomas Bjørn

Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The Broadmoor (East Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. First off, how did you find the course played today?

THOMAS BJØRN: It's a USGA setup, so you've got to hit the fairways. That's the key. I did that pretty much most of the day today. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out on the whole.

I covered the putts on the front nine, missed a couple of short ones on the back nine. All in all, played good golf. The course was great. Good start and kick on from here.

Q. How did it differ from the practice rounds you were able to get in?

THOMAS BJØRN: Quite a lot. It's a bit softer. We had a lot of rain the past two days. It's just constant rain. It comes in big, so it's difficult for the water to go anywhere. It's a little bit soft, but that's okay. It will dry out as the week progresses and get tougher and tougher.

Q. Started out with the three birdies and then two bogeys, but you rebounded with the birdie on 16. Talk about how you were able to do that.

THOMAS BJØRN: I thought I played pretty well on that front nine, and then I holed a long putt on 10 and kind of in general kept it pretty going.

Then I missed a couple of short putts, three short putts in a row, two for par and one for birdie. It was like I'd gone a little bit wrong there, but nice birdie on 16. I hit some great shots on 17 and 18. I didn't hole the putts, but all in all, it was probably a pretty fair reflection of the day, I think.

Q. Finally, how does it feel to be one stroke off the lead?

THOMAS BJØRN: It's Thursday. There's no prizes on Thursday. You've just got to get into this event. In any sort of USGA setup, you can very quickly play yourself out of it. It's a question of just being there and being around on Sunday so you can give yourself a chance to be up there.

So this is a good start, but I know there's 54 holes ahead and hard work ahead.
