Bailey Davis

Allyn Stephens

Midland, Michigan, USA

Midland Country Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: All right, very pleased to be joined by Bailey Davis and Allyn Stephens, sponsor invites. Bailey, for you to be here, I know you talked about it at Meijer, but to be here as part John Shippen, what does that mean to you.

BAILEY DAVIS: It means a lot. I feel like it's great preparation moving into the next steps. I'm really grateful I was able to earn that opportunity to come here and really excited for this week.

Q. Allyn for you, how excited are you to be teeing it up on the LPGA Tour?

ALLYN STEPHENS: Same thing. I'm really grateful Bailey chose me to come play this week. Yeah, really excited.

Q. Talk about how did the partnership come to be? You said Bailey reached out to you. How do you know each other and what was the conversation to come play this event?

BAILEY DAVIS: Our families have been friends for quite a long time, a couple years I would say. So since I'm an amateur I also had to choose another amateur. Allyn and are pretty good friends. It was a quick conversation.

I texted her right after I won and asked her. I knew already in my mind who I wanted to pick and so I texted her right after I won and said do you want to be my partner? She said yes.

ALLYN STEPHENS: Very easy yes.

Q. Talked about your experience with team golf. Do you guys enjoy it? What are you most excited for to play with each other?

ALLYN STEPHENS: I'm not used to -- you know, like playing in a team is not like a normal thing for golf, so, yeah, I'll really excited. Played in one Four-Ball event in my life so I think it'll be really exciting.

It's a great event to do it at, so...

BAILEY DAVIS: Yeah, college golf is team golf but you're not playing as a team, so it's nice to kind of have that partnership with her and just to be out there knowing that someone has your back and we're just going to be there to support each other the whole way.

Q. How do you guys complement each other's games?

BAILEY DAVIS: He would say we -- Allyn is a pretty solid iron player. I would say I am as well. I do hit the ball is pretty decent ways, so hopefully that helps a bit. On the greens I think we're able to help each other read some putts and get some better lines as a team.

Two brains is better than one, so...

Q. Do you agree with that?

ALLYN STEPHENS: Completely agree, yeah.

Q. Bailey, was with you I guess about a week ago at the Meijer LPGA Classic; how are you going to bring your experience from playing there to another LPGA Tour event, and how are you passing on what you learned there to Allyn?

BAILEY DAVIS: At this level you're playing against the best players in the world, you know, so what I learned at Meijer is pretty much just how to limit the damage. When I'm not really feeling like myself or just struggling with maybe a certain type of shot or I was struggling off the tee a little bit at Meijer and that hurt me.

Being able to limit the damage; being able to control the controllables and not allow anything to get out of hand.

Q. And Allyn, how are you leaning on Bailey having that a little bit of LPGA Tour experience and also bringing just I feel like a fresh, new amateur perspective and game to the LPGA Tour this week?

ALLYN STEPHENS: I am really trying to bring good vibes this week. She kind of leads me in a lot of ways of like where to go. I don't know where player registration is and stuff like that, and so she's helped me a lot with that. I'm just trying to be very upbeat, and, yeah, bring really good vibes. I think you're going to play well if you have good vibes, so...

Q. Have you both got a chance to check out the course?

BAILEY DAVIS: Yes. We played yesterday and today.

Q. How does this course suit your strengths and what are some challenging aspects of it?

BAILEY DAVIS: For me personally, I grew up on bent grass in Maryland, and so I'm pretty familiar with this type of grass. Again, I think off the tee you have to be really solid. Hitting the fairway is definitely an advantage out here.

So I would say that would be kind of an advantage, just being familiar with the grass, and, again, off the tee.

ALLYN STEPHENS: I would say the same about the fairways. It's pretty short this week, so I mean, really emphasis on like wedges and shorter irons, which I love.

She's going to help me a lot with the greens because I did not grow up on bent greens.

Q. Excited for this week and what are you looking forward to?

BAILEY DAVIS: For me I would say another experience just at the highest level competing against the best players. The more I continue to play out here the more and more comfortable I get, so I'm really excited for that.

ALLYN STEPHENS: Yeah, the exciting thing for me is just being here and experiencing everything. I want to go to all the events and immerse myself in the experience.

Q. What's the team name?

BAILEY DAVIS: Pin Seekers.

ALLYN STEPHENS: Yes.

Q. How did you come up with that?

BAILEY DAVIS: ChatGPT. Don't know if I should have admitted that. But, yeah, give it credit.
