Quick Quotes

Q. Gaby Lopez is with us now at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Gaby, 2-under today. What stands out to you about your second round?

GABY LOPEZ: To be honest, yesterday was a good day. I played 16 holes 1-under and two holes 6-over, so I just tried to get all the positives from yesterday and not get down into two holes.

And I knew we were playing good. Called my coach yesterday at the range at almost 8:00 p.m. We were hitting golf balls because I was not hitting my driver as good as I wanted; out here with the wind it's just really tricky.

So I'm really happy he answered the call and we were able to kind of get my driver straight.

Also putting has been -- has helped me a lot this week.

Q. That being said, were you confident going into today even with the wind?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, I mean, I like to tell myself that I'm -- I want to be confident and I want to just take all the positives. After shooting yourself on the foot two times with two triples it's big and it's hurtful.

But, I don't know, I feel that one of the things I learned the most has been how to be resilient out here. Everyone is battling something. Everyone is having unlucky breaks. Everyone is uncomfortable. Everyone is nervous.

Yeah, just trying to accept that and trying to do my best for today. Today I was proud that I was in a much braver attitude than yesterday.

Q. With this wind, I assume you had to control your golf ball pretty well today.

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, like I said, off the tee it was spectacular. Iron shots were really, really well. Yeah, my putting coach and I did a spectacular job Monday through Wednesday just building confidence a little bit over a little bit.

So, yeah, I mean, just keep working through the same line. It's hard not to see results at times but just got to keep pushing and keep going.

Q. You were talking about your putting. How tough is it to putt with this wind and what adjustment do you have to make?

GABY LOPEZ: Yeah, it's really tough to putt, especially situations. You don't now how much the ball is going to break, more than you're seeing or even you have grain, you have wind, and how fast the greens are and slope.

So, yeah, just got to really commit to one spot, really commit to your line. If it goes in, if it's not the result I wanted or if it is, it's great. But I'm just being able to commit every single putt to that little spot that I'm picking and the rest is out of my hands.
