Q. Okay, Peiyun Chien is with us now at the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. How would you summarize your opening round?

PEIYUN CHIEN: I had the first hole with birdie, just like tap-in, so I think my start is pretty good because I just commit the shot I want and I do it in the course.

So I think last night I check the pin position, so it's a lot of tough pin. Yeah, I just cannot do the short side and the wind is gusting so hard. Green is firmer from the practice round so it's just tough course.

Q. What are you most proud of today?

PEIYUN CHIEN: We missed the right side, missed the right way. Have a lot of short side to make up and down, so I made a lot of par and made couple long birdie.

Q. Can you compare this course, how tough it is compared to other majors?

PEIYUN CHIEN: How tough? I think all the majors pretty tough but the wind in here is hard to guessing, and have to play with the wind or fight with the wind.

So, yeah, you have to play like at least two shot together.

Q. So this is not the first time you start like this in a major, no? You're in contention. So what do you think is going to be the key now for the rest of the week?

PEIYUN CHIEN: I think the key is my putting getting better, because I practice in the room like every night before go to the bed. Like 100 on the ruler, so putt with my dad. He's here this week. I think he help me a lot.

Q. Your scoring on the front and the back, the score is the same but a lot more volatile on the front. Can you explain the difference between the front and back nine and the way the course plays?

PEIYUN CHIEN: Yes. The back nine the wind get stronger for sure. Yeah, just hard to play with this strong wind and short side pin. It's so hard to hold on the green.
