Quick Quotes
Q. Okay, here with Bronte. Just talk a little bit about your clubs and the week you had out here. Kind of a tough start to the week and you made a lot of positives out of it.
BRONTE LAW: Yeah, I mean, I was about to catch a flight back home. I was flying with my wife and we basically were about to head to the gate and I get the email saying that I'm in the event.
So walk out of the terminal, tell the person at the desk that I'm not going to be on the plane and could I get my bags. They told me to wait at the baggage carousel. I said, you know, how long is it going to be? They weren't sure. Said it could take a couple hours.
Waited there for two hours and asked the lady at the desk, is there any chance you can follow up and see how long? She said that it could take four to five hours, so I waited there another hour. She then felt sorry for me and called someone I guess who was dealing with all the baggage stuff.
They said it was on the plane to London. So luckily for me, my wife grabbed my bags when they land and said, these need to go here and she gave an address here. You know, we kind of just waited. They were sat in Detroit airport for like a whole day. We called FedEx who said they hadn't been told to go pick them up yet.
We're like on the phone with American Airlines, FedEx, trying to get bags. I was like, I'll drive to Detroit. They were like, no, a label has been created so you can't go pick them up. So waiting patiently.
Titleist tried to make me a bag of clubs. Huge thanks to them for the hours they spent trying to make something as close to what I play with. But it's incredibly difficult. They don't carry all the clubs on the truck.
So, yeah, it was a huge relief once they arrived. I think we just had the mindset this week of, well, let's just go and have some fun. We've had a ropey start to the week but maybe our luck is going to turn.
You know, just played some really nice golf. I think just having that mindset and that freedom is something I've needed on the course. Gary did a great job helping me with that.
Yeah, they owe me, the stress of not having your clubs, it's like your babies, you know.
Q. So when did you eventually get to play with your clubs?
BRONTE LAW: The first round, yeah. I mean, I didn't get them until Wednesday afternoon. I wasn't in the pro-am so we just spent a lot of time on the range trying to imagine we were playing holes, and then a lot of time in the chipping area and on the putting green. Tried to come up with a plan as much as we could of like how we were going to play the holes.
Yeah, like I said, Gary did a great job managing all those things. It's not easy to try and tell me what club to hit when we're going out that first day and we haven't really played it.
So, yeah, I think we just had a really good like positive mindset from a bit of a bad situation.
Q. Right. Was that your mindset throughout the whole week?
BRONTE LAW: Yeah, it was. We just kept rolling with it. We said we're trying to have fun this week. We nearly weren't here. We're here, made the cut, doing well, let's just keep going, make a couple birdies here and there.
Actually played really well today.
Q. The host family that you also had to find housing arrangements, too.
BRONTE LAW: Yeah, luckily enough for me, Cheyenne and Elizabeth Szokol didn't come and play this event, so found myself a wonderful host family in Connie and Bob, and they have looked after me all week and I've had the best week. I really have. You know, this is one of the best turnouts I've seen for a regular season event.
The people of Michigan always come out and support women's golf. I think it's wonderful what they do here for the event and Meijer do such a good job of supporting women's golf and trying to really elevate the game.
That's all that we can ask for really.
