Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Brooke Henderson after the final round of the Meijer LPGA Classic. Brooke, first things first, talk about that front nine. Been saying for a while you felt like you were close. How satisfying was it to see that finally come together?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, the front nine was awesome. Definitely really coming together. 6-under through eight holes was a lot of fun. I felt I was in a really good spot, so it's disappointing to only finish at 5-under today.
Definitely feel like I'll take a little bit of maybe extra focus into next week to make sure I can finish it off a little bit better. Overall just so much fun out there today. The crowds were amazing, and just to have all their support all week was really cool. I love coming back here and I love playing this golf course, so I'm glad I got off to a fast start today?
Q. Talk about the crowds a little bit. Seems like each year they get better and better and it gets bigger and bigger. How cool is that to see each year?
BROOKE HENDERSON: For sure. The atmosphere here is so cool. It's one of our best events on Tour. The fans are incredible early Thursday to late Sunday afternoon. There is so many fun activities for people to do from the Kids' Zone to the great food and drinks at J Brewers. Just everybody is really happy and excited to be here.
It's really cool to feel as a player. The love and support was really awesome.
Q. Heading into a major, how would you describe your confidence level after your final round today?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I feel like you said I've been saying I have been trending in the right direction for a long time, so it was nice to make some birdies; chip-in eagle on 8, kind of get the momentum and kind of get things rolling in the right direction felt good.
The main goal today was to move up the leaderboard as many spots as I could. Happy with that. I think going into next week I feel like my confidence is in a pretty good spot compared to where it has been most of the year. I'm excited to tee it up next week.
Q. So I understand you had surgery on your eyes.
BROOKE HENDERSON: Uh-huh.
Q. Is that something typical that a golfer faces?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, actually. I have kind of -- I don't know if it's rare, but I had a condition, some golfers out here do have it, it's called surfer's eye, a bump on the right eye. So I was unable to wear contacts, so that's why I wore glasses for the last two seasons. I was able to have successful surgery last September and been able to wear contacts this year, which has been a really big difference.
Q. You think that's really contributed to your playing well, better?
BROOKE HENDERSON: It's a been a big adjustment going from nothing to glasses and then to contacts. It's definitely been a big change, but I think I'm just continuing to get more comfortable and it makes a huge difference when it's rainy or windy. Glasses were really annoying, especially at the British Open last year.
I think it's just easier in all conditions to perform well, and to be able to wear sunglasses is another huge thing. I wasn't able to do that last two years.
Q. What about your equipment changes with TaylorMade? Feel like you're playing a little bit better with that between your eyesight and new equipment maybe?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, lots of changes the last like three years or so. TaylorMade is amazing. It's been really cool to be part of the team, part of the family, be amongst so many incredible ambassadors and know they have my back.
Q. We understand you're always traveling with your foursome so to speak. You really feel that's contributed to your overall success?
BROOKE HENDERSON: For sure, yeah. To have dad as my coach my entire life, knows my game better than anybody, just helps my sister and I so much. Both my parents have made so many sacrifices to allow us to live out our dream out here on tour.
Just their love and support from both my mom and dad and also my sister who caddies for me and travels with me basically 24/7, so we're always together but it's a lot of fun.
