MEIJER LPGA CLASSIC

June 14, 2025

Megan Khang

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Blythefield Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Megan Khang after the third round of the Meijer LPGA Classic. Talk a little bit about today's round for you.

MEGAN KHANG: You know, today's round was a little bit of up and down. It's never a great start to start your round off with a bogey, but it was really good to kind of make a really good par save on No. 2, and to go on a three-birdie stretch 4 through 6 was -- 3 through 5, I can't even remember, was definitely a nice bounceback for me.

I joked with my caddie, DT, because it's his birthday today, and I was joking with him that I was putting really good, and then I started to realize I was putting good and then it kind of stiffened up a little. That is definitely something we are going to work on after.

So for the most part just kind of hung in there. Obviously got a little frustrated that putts weren't dropping, but that's golf. Going to take a lot of positives for how it is going into Sunday.

Q. And can you just talk about this course and the conditions that you saw out there today compared to the last couple days? Heard it firmed up a little bit.

MEGAN KHANG: I'm hitting the ball so much further on these greens. It's kind of crazy planning a pitching wedge to kind of release 10 to 15 yards, but it's something we've had to trust and something we've been doing a really good job trusting.

Ball striking has been pretty good this week. Been doing a pretty good job getting the right numbers and playing the spots on the greens instead of some pins.

Obviously I get lucky here and there. I pulled a couple shots on No. 9 in the past few days that ended up in a really good spot for a chance for birdie, but it's just really different playing a course that it looks gettable, but at the same time having to be a little more reserved on those second shot even if it is a shorter club in.

Q. What would you say you love most about this course? A lot of players have talked about a hometown feel. There is still so many crowds. How would you describe this event?

MEGAN KHANG: You know, this tournament has always been one of my favorites. It's always a great turnout, and I think it's on ode to the Grand Taste and the Kids Center. Meijer does a great job involving the community.

For me I missed it last year and I was pretty sad about it. Coming back this year and having the fans be like, we missed you last year and noticed I was away, it definitely feels homey and it's like I never left. They make me feel like I'm from Michigan.

It's pretty cool to have this environment, but the fans make this tournament great, and hopefully give them a good show tomorrow.

Q. And this week is obviously important, but next week we have a major coming up. What do you see trending in your game that's giving you confidence for next week?

MEGAN KHANG: I wasn't too happy with the my ball striking at U.S. Open. Missing the cut there never feels good. Went home for the off week. Didn't play ShopRite. Took time, focused on myself, and really tried to focus more so on the ball striking, and kind of paid off this week and hopefully carrying that into next week.

Once we kind of match up my speed and lines on the putts, hopefully it all clicks tomorrow and for the rest of the year.

Q. Lastly, was there any other fun moments with your caddie's birthday today?

MEGAN KHANG: Oh, it was great. On No. 14 we were waiting for the fairway to clear, and Colin and Ina were kind of hanging back, so I walked to the tee box and there was quite a few people, and I got everyone to sing happy birthday. DT was not a huge fan of that but I thought it was great.

He made sure no kids were around to say what you wanted to say to me. It was all in good fun. I think he secretly liked it, but he's not a day over 21.

Q. You had birdies on three of the four par-5s today. Obviously must like that if you hit it in the right spot. Any other holes out there you feel like were birdieable that you missed your opportunity but tomorrow you're going to get it?

MEGAN KHANG: Oh, they're all birdieable. I mean, there are definitely holes that are a little more gettable than others. Coming out of gate No. 1 is a tough short hole with the elevated green, and to be fair, like the past couple days it's been downwind; definitely a little tougher.

Coming down I would have to say No. 5, the short par-3 up the hill, it's definitely a friendly hole for a birdie, especially if you're getting a perfect lie off the tee, and it's most likely no more than I would say even for the shortest hitter out here 9-iron because the greens are so firm.

So when you have the opportunity to give yourself the best lie, best condition, and hopefully a straight up the chute little blind tee shot, hopefully giving yourself a good chance.

But I would like to say all of them are gettable to keep the positive vibes, but if I had to pick at least one hole, that would probably be one of them.

And maybe No. 12. I'm trying to remember just because the course is a little different every time I come here. The past couple years at least No. 12 with it being slightly downwind I was able to have a shorter club in, but I'm just going to treat it all like I can birdie them all but it might not happen.

Definitely going to give it my best chance.

Q. Sounds like you talked yourself into a great round already right now.

MEGAN KHANG: Thank you. I hope so.
