Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Karis after her second round at the Meijer LPGA Classic. 2-under 70; tied at the top. Talk about the day today.
KARIS DAVIDSON: Well, honestly, if I'm being honest, my time of the month was really bad today. My cramps have been really sore so my caddie was kind of my cheerleader for the day. He was keeping me going with lots of snacks and PowerAdes and things.
So we just really hung in there today. Was a bit of a grind, and nice to get the couple birdies at the end. Yeah, had a really fun group. Yeah, it was a really good day.
Q. Talk about those birdies at the end. Two in the last three holes. Anything that really stood out?
KARIS DAVIDSON: I hit a bad iron shot on the par-3, so over the -- on the first birdie on the 16th, I just said to myself, come on. Let's get a good swing here. I hit a pretty good shot, and then it was a downhill putt and it just dropped in.
And then the last one, it was just a good chip and a putt for birdie.
So, yeah, it was a good way to finish for the day.
Q. Good stretch of pars there from holes 2 to 14. How do you stay focused and just keep everything going in the right direction after just relatively quote/unquote boring golf?
KARIS DAVIDSON: Well, honestly, if you saw it it wasn't that boring. There was a lot of really good putts for pars, you know, good chips. Like I just really stuck in there and just kept really patient.
So, yeah, it was good.
Q. And kind of just talk about being tied for the lead heading into tomorrow. How excited are you to get out there towards the end of the day, and are you excited for the nerves and everything that comes with it?
KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah, I think this is the first time I've been tied first in an LPGA event after two rounds, so, yeah, I'm just really excited that I wasn't fighting for the cut. You know, it was a bit of a different feeling out there.
Yeah, really looking forward to the weekend. Should be good.
Q. Can you speak a little bit about the community support here. Obviously some fans out there today; hopefully some more tomorrow. How nice is it to see everyone out?
KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah, it's great. I mean, the tent over on the par-5, it was packed today. Everyone was really excited and I've seen a lot of the kids out.
Yeah, really cool, yeah.
Q. There was about four or five Aussies in the top 10 after yesterday I believe. What does that say about golf in Australia and just the community that you all have out here?
KARIS DAVIDSON: Yeah, we're really lucky. We're all really good friends and we've got each other's backs, which is pretty unique. I think we all really get along.
Yeah, the golf in Australia is very supportive, and I think it just shows that we're a real country going forward, yeah. We've been lucky.
Q. Last question: You guys were coming in talking about Love Island. Was there a lot of those conversations like that out there? You said you had a lot of fun. What were you guys talking about other than golf?
KARIS DAVIDSON: Well, I think I was asking Alexa about her eyelashes, like what she uses. We were having a laugh about getting glue in your eye, some real rogue random stuff.
Q. Everyone is fans of Love Island in your group?
KARIS DAVIDSON: I think after a long day of golf you want to show that you can really switch off, too. I think watching Love Island just shows you're doing all right in life. (Laughter.)
