ROLAND GARROS

May 23, 2025

Jasmine Paolini

Paris, France

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Jasmine, welcome back to Roland Garros. Talk about how you're feeling after your success in Rome and what you've looked forward to about coming back to Paris this year.

JASMINE PAOLINI: It's amazing to be back here. It's a special place, you know, and we played also Olympics here. So it's nice to be back.

Yeah, I'm just enjoying at the moment.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Madison Keys was in here not long ago and she was talking about how relentless tennis is and how she had her greatest moment in Australia, and then two weeks later she was expected to be back out playing a tournament. You had this incredible moment just a few days ago in Rome, and now you have to come in and play a Grand Slam. In an ideal world, would you have liked a bit more time to really bask in what you achieved in Rome?

JASMINE PAOLINI: I don't know. I think we are used to it, and tennis is like that. Maybe yes, but at the same time, I'm happy to be back competing. I like to compete.

So it's nice to have another tournament, another chance. It's always, you know, a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. You know, if you lose, you have another chance. If you win, maybe you need more time to enjoying.

But I think it's nice to have tournaments and chances to go back on court.

Q. Last year it was kind of magical run, like you reached the final in Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Did you feel that you grow as a player compared to last year?

JASMINE PAOLINI: I think yes. Last year I did many experiences that help me a lot. I grew up a lot, I think.

But as I say always, every tournament is different. You can play bad; you can play well. It can change a lot.

I think last year it give me so much confidence that I don't have to forgot about it, but I have to keep with myself to try to step on court this year here or in every tournament, you know, with this experience, and trying to bring this confidence. But the same time, I know it's not easy to confirm yourself every tournament.

Q. I was wondering if, after Sinner and Swiatek, the cases about doping, if there is kind of a paranoia in the player thinking about the same thing that can happen to you or someone else?

JASMINE PAOLINI: Yes.

Q. And if you change something in your daily routine?

JASMINE PAOLINI: I think I was paying attention to it also a lot before, but now you feel like you were more vulnerable. Because, you know, after those cases, you see that, I don't know, it's more real somehow, you know. I don't know what to say, but it's scary a little bit. We have to control many things.

We're trying to do our best. But at the same time, as I said in Rome, it's good that the WADA is changing the rules. It was better if was a little bit before 2027, but I don't know. We are doing a step forward, and that's good for all of us, I think, because it can happen, I think, it can happen to all of us. You know, we are always traveling and it's not easy to control everything. We are doing our best, and yeah, hopefully it's not happening anymore to anybody.
