THE MODERATOR: Jasmine, tough match, up and down. Talk us through your thoughts.

JASMINE PAOLINI: Yes, "up and down" are the right words and was a tough match. You know, the first set came so fast for me, and then my attention and intensity was a little bit going down, but I'm happy how I managed to come back, especially in the third, because wasn't easy.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. How is it to be here as a finalist of last year, and do you have the feeling that people are looking another way to you?

JASMINE PAOLINI: I don't know. To be here after the final of last year, of course it's special, but at the same time I'm trying to keep the expectation low and trying to focus on the match that I have to play.

Today sometimes it works; sometimes it not. That's the goal, to try to think about the present and what's coming in the next match.

Q. (Off mic.)

JASMINE PAOLINI: I don't know. We have to ask my opponents, but of course I'm playing better than maybe last year, and, you know, I had that amazing season last year, so I came here maybe with more result, more consistency, as well. But at the same time, I think that every match, you know, it's tricky here. It's tough.

But I hope that, I don't know, somehow they step on court and they say, Okay, today's going to be tough, but I don't know. I don't have this feeling (smiling).

Q. What have you improved the most compared to last year?

JASMINE PAOLINI: I don't know. This is a tough question, but we are trying to improve always. We are trying to put the best into the court every time.

It's not easy, but from the last year in this period before the Roland Garros, I think I had more consistency during the season, and I think that's one of the things that keep you to play at this level, you know, and that's one of the most important to play always somehow good.
