THE MODERATOR: Congratulations on the win today. How do you feel going into the second round of Roland Garros?
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Yeah, happy with the win. Always tough to start a Grand Slam. Never easy to play a first match, especially if you're the favorite and maybe you should win.
So happy with how I handled it today and that I got the win.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Your performance in the challenger, how you lost, how are you feeling? Did you have any physical issues?
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: No, not at all. I went to Bordeaux trying to get seeded here. I knew I needed to win the tournament there. Felt well. After Rome, physically, mentally a bit tired. Felt like I wanted to play there. Same conditions as here, same ball, same court. Was actually perfect preparation for here.
Played two good matches. The quarters was a bit too physical, a bit too long. Run a bit out of steam in the semis. But yeah, that's what it was. Not lifting too heavy on that week. Just felt good to play two good matches there. It wasn't great, but it is what it is.
Q. How much are rankings in your mind? Do you pay attention to it a lot?
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Well, normally I never pay attention to it. This year in Indian Wells I was 33, in Madrid I was 33, in Rome I was 34, here I'm 33 again. I was sick of that. Just tried to get to that seeded spot by winning Bordeaux. It didn't work out. I ended up 33 again here. Just a bit unlucky on that.
Yeah, it is what it is. Like now I just landed in the middle of the draw, which is nice sometimes. But it has been different in the past.
Q. You've had a lot of tough draws. What is that like?
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Well, last year wasn't fun at all. In that case I think I played the most against top five out of all guys. I ended 40 in the world. Shouldn't be the case, but...
It is what it is. Sometimes you have those weeks, you can't control it. This year so far I've been a little bit more luckier with the draws. Like I said, you can't control it and it is what it is.
Q. I've been asking players about how they deal with anti-doping, particularly when you're trying to get a sample and you can't pee. What is that like? Some players saying it's weird having someone in their home.
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Yeah, it sucks sometimes. I had a couple of times that I peed and 30 minutes later the guy rings the door, he is sitting on my couch for three hours. I'm not the best pee-er when somebody is watching. Sometimes it's just unlucky, as well.
At the same time it is what's. I'm also not the best in keeping the location up to date. Sometimes it's a struggle. No, overall it's fine. Like, you get to know these people. Actually the guy who comes in my home is a pretty nice guy. Have pretty fun chats with him sometimes.
Q. (No microphone.)
TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Once we've just been re-watching an IX match for 90 minutes they played the day before. You're not allowed to offer them anything to drink or anything like that. Sometimes it's a bit awkward. They're sitting in front of you, staring at you, in your own place, which is not the most ideal thing, but part of the life.
