ROLAND GARROS

May 27, 2025

Lois Boisson

Paris, France

Press Conference

L. BOISSON/E. Mertens

6-4, 4-6, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Congratulations. The greatest win of your career. What are you feeling?

LOIS BOISSON: I'm very happy because winning a first match here in Roland is absolutely amazing for me. It's a feeling that is impossible to describe. I hope that I will win many more this year and in the coming years.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. How did you feel during the match? What were the words from your coach after the match?

LOIS BOISSON: At the beginning I felt good, not necessarily tense, considering the stakes. So I was feeling good. Then I felt a bit tense during the match. The fact that all of the public was there, the atmospheres that I'm not used to at all. It made me a bit tense at the beginning. I managed to use it.

The second set, her serve was so good. It was very difficult to break. I tried to get back in the third. I don't really remember what happened. I can't remember much just now.

I know that everyone is very happy for me.

Q. Can we zoom in on when you were 1-1 in the second set, and you tried to break her serve.

LOIS BOISSON: Yes, I remember I did save some break points and I knew what to do. That's when it happened. All the better for me.

The two games afterward did me a lot of good also.

Q. In this moment, do you see everything you've been through with your injury of last year? Does it make your win more special here?

LOIS BOISSON: Yes, necessarily. Just the fact of being here today makes me happy. It took a long time. I wasn't sure that I would get here. The win has a different taste today. All of the work that we've done has led to this win.

Q. Did you think that you'd be back at this level so fast?

LOIS BOISSON: I don't know. I didn't really necessarily think about it, but I knew that when I came back I was ready to play match after match. It was just up to me to know whether I would immediately be able to play well.

But I knew that I was ready. So yes, things are going quite well for me.

Q. You're discovering this Roland Garros with new eyes. What is your experience? What about the public in the match? Had you already experienced such an atmosphere, the public supporting you like that?

LOIS BOISSON: No, it's the first time I've played in this atmosphere. Court 14 is rather particular because the public is very close to you. They really make it very noisy. I heard that there was also supporters for her. It went both ways.

It's great that's the way it was. It's fantastic to play with this type of atmosphere. I love it.

Q. You and Elsa Jacquemot. You both grew up in Lyon.

LOIS BOISSON: I didn't grow up in Lyon. I've only been in Lyon for four years. I wasn't with her at all at the beginning.

Now from time to time when we're in Lyon we hit together and we take advantage of being good level players in the same city.

Q. You had two ACL injuries. Daria sent you some messages. She had the same thing. Who else sent you messages?

LOIS BOISSON: Well, no, I don't remember everybody who sent me messages. I do remember that Daria was one of the first to send me messages. She really helped me a lot because she had the same experience. I asked her quite a few questions. She really supported me during my rehabilitation.

I know that happened to her and she came back and she's playing very well. That really made me confident that I could come back also.

Q. I don't know if you've seen your opponent in the next round, Kalinina. Are you thinking about that or are you just savoring your win the tonight?

LOIS BOISSON: No, I'm not going to think about the second round because I have doubles tomorrow. Let's play the doubles and then we'll think about the second round.

But I do know her because I already played her in the second round of the qualifications in the first day I played here, I can't remember which year that was in. I already played against her. I did lose. But I know what to expect. Preparing for the match as best as I can.
