ROLAND GARROS

May 28, 2025

Daniel Altmaier

Paris, France

Press Conference

D. ALTMAIER/V. Kopriva

6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5

THE MODERATOR: Daniel, how does it feel to qualify for the third round?

DANIEL ALTMAIER: No, great feeling obviously being back in the third round. It's special. I guess that today was tricky to play, tricky conditions. I'm happy to even go through in this type of match.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. I want to ask you, besides the match, I know that you were working with David Souto. I'm from Venezuela, so I want to know why you're no longer together. And what is the biggest knowledge you got from him?

DANIEL ALTMAIER: I mean, David is a very close friend of mine. You obviously know the conditions in the country, in the area around US Open last year. He couldn't leave the country anymore, so I had to really find another solution.

We both came through a mutual agreement to stop for the moment because he wanted to take care of the family and don't leave.

Q. Maybe you can work together again.

DANIEL ALTMAIER: We will see how the times is going to be. I really think I have high values of David. He has a great knowledge, great energy. He's doing fantastic job for Venezuelan tennis, for the kids, with TenniSapien. There is something he has an unbelievable energy and passion for tennis.

Q. You keep cheering up yourself in Spanish?

DANIEL ALTMAIER: No, obviously my whole team is Spanish, so I'm, yeah, Spanish connected all the time.
