ROLAND GARROS

May 28, 2025

Quentin Halys

Paris, France

Press Conference

Q. HALYS/M. Kecmanovic

4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. We're from Danish media. You might face Holger Rune if he wins tonight. I remember at Wimbledon you had a special match against him, going from Court 18 to Court No. 1. How would it be to face Holger again if you play him?

QUENTIN HALYS: Yeah, he's such a talented player. Especially on clay he's playing really, really good. It's going to be a very big battle for me. But I'm looking forward to playing him again if he's winning tonight.

I know I will have to play my best tennis if I want to beat him. It's going to be a nice challenge.

Q. It was an amazing atmosphere at Court 14 today. All the noise came from 14. I guess against Holger it will also be a big advantage compared to Wimbledon where you'll have the French crowd with you?

QUENTIN HALYS: Yeah, Court 14 is really special. When you're French, the crowd is very loud and crazy. It makes a huge difference.

I think we're going to play on a big stadium, too. The public will cheer for me. Yeah, that might be a little advantage for me.

Q. Would you prefer a bigger stadium or a court like Court 14?

QUENTIN HALYS: I mean, you practice every day to play on the biggest stadium. Of course, I want to play on the biggest stadium.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. We could tell you were battling very hard. You were down a few break points and you never gave up. Can you tell us how you are so combative and you're able not to let go?

QUENTIN HALYS: It's normal not to give up. Where I was very good is when I had break points against me. I played offensively. I will watch the game again, but I think I played well in the important points more than him giving them to me.

The conditions were not good today. Some wind, it was cold from time to time, some sun. I'm really happy with the way I played in the important moments.

Q. The third time you're in the third round here. You've experienced difficult moments when you had to go through qualifications again. Is it important after you had those lows in your career?

QUENTIN HALYS: Yes, of course. I lost in the quallies last year. I was not even in the main draw. Displaying such a level is highly satisfactory. It really motivates me for the next step. I have to stay focused. With the level I displayed today, I think I can be optimistic for the future.

Q. There was this great semifinal in Dubai on hard court, then a difficult season on the clay. I think you had an adductor injury. How did you come back?

QUENTIN HALYS: In Indian Wells I won a match I was supposed to win and I lost against Alcaraz. In Miami I didn't do the same, and I lost against Musetti. Since I only played against great players, whether it is Darderi in a challenger. I played Navone. My ranking makes the situation where I have to accept that I will lose one and win one.

It's difficult when playing in the challengers. I won a lot of games last year, but you get the same amount of points.

I think my level is ramping up because I am playing against the best of them, playing lots of good ones. I have nothing to be ashamed of.

I still have a lot to improve.

Q. You played on Court 14, which is considered a very particular place, especially for French players. How did you experience it? Did you feel you were pushed by the crowd or...

QUENTIN HALYS: Yes, it was really unbelievable. It is really noisy most of the time. I think it was very difficult in the key moments when he was close to winning the third and fourth sets. It really pushes me. It is really enjoyable to be supported that much.

It makes it harder to be focused because it's really noisy and people are really close to us. But the atmosphere in general is great.

Q. Something that has nothing to do with tennis. Are you interested in the Champions League finals on Saturday or not?

QUENTIN HALYS: Of course. I will be very interested in it. I will be 3,000% pushing for PSG. I have a season tickets to their matches. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it there, but I will be watching TV.

Q. Is there a lot of talk with the organization about the schedule and when you will play?

QUENTIN HALYS: Well, I will play if I have to play. If it's on Saturday, I hope it will not be a night session.
