P. BADOSA/E-G Ruse
3-6, 6-4, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Paula, could you please summarize a bit about that match. A bit up and down that match. How did you manage to pull it through?
PAULA BADOSA: Yeah, was a tough one, especially mentally it was tough today. She played pretty good, especially in the first and the third set.
But I'm happy I stayed there and I tried to give everything I had today. That wasn't easy. Happy I got the win.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Looked like it was a real struggle for you. Was that an injury or an illness?
PAULA BADOSA: No, it wasn't injury this time. I'm happy about that time. I had just a little bit of fever. Yeah, I had no energy. It was tough for me.
But I took everything I had in that moment. The physios and my team gave me some stuff. I tried to stay there. You never know. You're playing a singles match, so you're playing against another player. So you never know what can happen also with her.
I was just trying to stay calm, going for the first shots, trying to serve well, not making it very physical. I'm happy I managed well the important moments, and it went on my side.
Q. It's possible you could play Kasatkina. That was a key match for you in your revival at Wimbledon. Talk about that game.
PAULA BADOSA: Yeah, was a tough, tough match. I remember. It was a little bit a key moment, a turnaround for me. Since then I played really well at the end of the season, last year, middle, end of the season.
She's a very good player. She's been many years top 10, top 20. She's a very physical player. She likes to play with a lot of tactics.
Yeah, we know each other pretty well. Let's see how it goes. Also I need to see how I recover and everything. Yeah, let's see.
But I think she still needs to play, no? I don't know if she won. Let's see.
