ROLAND GARROS

May 30, 2025

Lorenzo Musetti

Paris, France

Press Conference

L. MUSETTI/M. Navone

4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. You talked after the match about finding the order in your game over the last few years. Can you talk about the process.

LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, I think for someone who has my, you know, weapons into the game, I have so many choices. It's even easier sometimes to do the wrong one.

I think this process takes time, especially for my personality and how I am on the court. That's why I think all the results is not finished yet. Of course, I can play much more with a lot of clear ideas of what I have to do on court.

In the last few months I think there's been a step forward for that. Today for sure I started a little bit too much in a rush. That doesn't pay off in my game.

So afterwards every set was getting better and better. Happy with the result.

Q. Can you talk about what it feels like for you to come inside the top 10 ranked No. 7? From the outside there's going to be more expectations on you. Do you feel that? Personally, does it make you raise your own expectations?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, but I feel it in a positive way. I am approaching the tournaments, I approach the tournaments with, of course, happy and proud vibes. It's the biggest achievement that I reached at the moment of my career. 7 position in the world.

Many, many great, great results I had this month. So of course I feel in a good shape, in the best period of my life. I think I have also to take all this stuff and try to enjoy also when I'm stepping on court. That's what I'm trying to do.

Q. Becoming a father, now becoming a father a second time, can you talk a little bit how it's changed you. Has it had an effect on the way you approach your professional life at all, the way you feel about things?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, it change a lot honestly. I have to say that I was pretty scared when Veronica, she got pregnant. During the pregnancy was probably the worst moment because I had so many thoughts on how it's going to be, how I could manage to be a father, to be a great father, an example, not just in the court but off the court.

Then afterwards, when Ludovico was born, it all becames really natural. I felt like all the things were going at the right places. Then afterwards I started as to play better, do better, enjoy again. To be here, to be surrounded with the people that always supported me, especially in the worst moments of my life and career.

Definitely now we are living also a special moment that Veronica is pregnant again. Really happy about that. Of course, now the focus is here in Paris. But really happy to see - how can I say - stomach growing of Veronica.

Q. You mentioned you're not always making the right choices in your game. Was that the only issue at the beginning of the match? What did you change to win it in fourth sets?

LORENZO MUSETTI: No, I think he started good, solid first set, I have to say. I was too in a rush, too nervous. I was speaking too much with myself, complaining too much. Is something that I don't want to do it anymore. That's something that I don't like about myself.

But of course I have to deal with that. That's part of myself. I have to accept that. But I'm trying to work to be better also at this because I know that complaining, speaking, cursing, whatever, is not make me feel better, is not going to have any, let's say, power to change.

I think I was a little bit in a rush because I was not accepting the rally too much, I was not leading the rally as I did in the last three sets with the forehand more and more.

I have to say that the conditions today were a little bit different. Also the heat was pretty tough to manage. But happy to find out a way to turn around the match.
