L. BOISSON/E. Jacquemot
6-3, 0-6, 7-5
THE MODERATOR: Elsa, bad luck today, but what are the positives you take with you from this edition of Roland Garros?
ELSA JACQUEMOT: My English is not very good, but I try. Yes, is positive. I play good. I lost in one hour, so it's not easy for me to speak, but it's okay. It's very good tournament. It's a good place, so I'm happy.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.
Q. We can imagine that you're very frustrated, but this is great publicity for women's tennis in France. What do you feel about this?
ELSA JACQUEMOT: I'm very disappointed, of course. It's not easy to lose 7-5 in the last set. With respect to French tennis, I don't know. I'm more focused on myself and my match.
I didn't play well. I didn't have a great match. She played very well. What I'm taking away from this match is that despite everything, I remained positive from the beginning to the end. I had a very strong mentality. I believed until the very end, and I fought until the very end where it wasn't easy at all, so I'm leaving on a positive note.
Q. With respect to the physio that Lois got, did this disturb you during the match? Did it play a role in what happened for you?
ELSA JACQUEMOT: No, it didn't play any role whatsoever. She asked for physio at the end of the first set. I thought that she was moving well, and she was recovering all the balls, so it didn't disturb me at all.
I didn't focus on her, but saying, you know, maybe she's hurt, maybe she's got to stop playing. I just said to myself, Okay, Elsa, you're not playing well, you're not really in the moment, but stay positive. Fight until the end.
So I got the second set 6-0. I was a little tense for the third set, but what my take-away is that it wasn't easy for me mentally, and it's not easy to play against a French girl who is my own age, and she was playing a good match.
So it wasn't easy.
Q. You were talking about regrets about the match at the end of the third set, but you got up to the net, you showed a lot more will. Do you think that this is an attitude that you could have tried to have more often during the match? Because you really stood up at the end.
ELSA JACQUEMOT: It is true that Lois -- you know, I committed some errors in the third set, whereas she played really well, but I was really into it, but I would prefer to lose and having given it my all. Whether taking a bet and I lost today, it was hard for me, but in any case, I kept my cool.
Q. So you gave a great show to the public for two hours, 20. Did the public support you? Did you feel loved by the public today?
ELSA JACQUEMOT: Each Roland Garros that I play, the public is absolutely wonderful. It's wonderful. We were on the 8th. It's a wonderful court. The public isn't just there for me. The public was also there for Lois, but it was wonderful. I heard people shouting, Go, Elsa. Go, Elsa. It was wonderful. It was really wonderful today.
Q. Lois said that you know each other really well. Do you get on well? Do you play against each other well? In Lyon, do you meet each other often?
ELSA JACQUEMOT: We know each other well. We're the same age. We're the same generation. We don't train a lot together. Sometimes we train together.
We're not really close to one another. We're just French and we have the same agent, so we know each other a little bit, yes.
Q. You said it was hard to talk about it one hour afterwards, but we imagine that you are going to take a lot away from this Roland Garros for the next tournaments.
ELSA JACQUEMOT: Yes, I got to the third round. That's my best tournament up to date. Even I'm going to come back here stronger than ever next time, because you can be negative, and you say, you know, I lost everything, but you have to stay positive and remind yourself that I got all the way to the third round. It's still wonderful.
This Roland Garros is going to teach me a lot of things. I have great memories of here. The public was wonderful. They were fully behind us, so I'm really happy even though I'm disappointed.
