ROLAND GARROS

June 1, 2025

Caroline Garcia

Diane Parry

Paris, France

Press Conference

ANDREEVA-SHNAIDER/Garcia-Parry

6-0, 7-5

(In French.)

THE MODERATOR: What's your takeaway from this match here at Roland Garros?

DIANE PARRY: For myself, I was very happy to play with Caroline her last Roland Garros. Delighted to. I have had a lot of pleasure playing with her, and it's unfortunate that everything is coming to an end now, but I was happy to share this moment with her.

I wish her all the very best for the future.

CAROLINE GARCIA: Yes, we started playing together at the Olympics last year. It was wonderful, and I love spending time on court and off court with Diane. So we had a lot of fun, and we created a lot of memories for this last French Open.

Good job, Diane.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. Caroline and Diane, this is your last match in Roland Garros. Can you tell us what your emotional state is? Were you signing some autographs at the end? What was your experience these last moments on the court?

CAROLINE GARCIA: This was a difficult match. They were seeded 4. They had excellent results over the last season, so it wasn't easy to find a rhythm in the first set because they were playing right on the spot all the time.

So after a while obviously we wanted to do better, both of us, and we just wanted to have a good time with the public, as well.

So we came back, and there were a lot of strong emotions for me to be in the Simonne Mathieu for my last appearance here at Roland Garros.

So, yes, a lot of emotion, but I think it's pretty normal.

Q. Hello to both of you. I was just wondering, Caroline, are you going to miss it all? You know, you have had a lot of support from the public, during the second set people cheering for you and for the French. Aren't you going to miss all of that when you leave the tennis world?

CAROLINE GARCIA: Yes, obviously I'm going to miss it. But then again, we don't always play here at the French Open. It's just once a year. So if it's the only thing that motivated me, that wouldn't be easy for me.

But, well, yes, that's why I really loved playing here at the French Open at Roland Garros every year. Being there with the crowd, having their support is pretty awesome, to be honest. Yes, I'm definitely going to miss it.

I'm going to watch Roland Garros now and not play Roland Garros. Well, you know, it's just part of an athlete's career. It's part of our life. If you're a professional player, well, at some point you have to turn the page, and you have a lot of memories. There are so many wonderful moments I have lived here, but I have so many more to live.

Q. How did you experience the few days between your singles match and your doubles match? What memories do you want to keep from your last Roland Garros?

CAROLINE GARCIA: Well, it's a tough question. So many things have happened since I came to Paris two weeks ago. So many emotions.

And after my last game in women's singles, I had just two days where not much happened. I just had to rest, and I was really happy to be able to be back in doubles and have those two small victories.

Well, after the match on the Lenglen is probably my strongest memory.

Q. Diane, after your match, it wasn't easy for you. So how is your experience on the last tournament going to help you for this one?

DIANE PARRY: It was very difficult for me to be defeated in singles, and it was very difficult to come back even if you're playing in doubles with someone that you enjoy playing with, but then the day after a defeat is always difficult for me.

So I was happy that we got through the first round, and I was able to enjoy it all and do my very best for Caro, as well, and to finish on a more positive note, even if it helps me finish on a positive note and puts things behind me, and it left me a few more days as well to train.

So I hope that I'm going to learn from this experience and help me for my next few weeks and next tournaments. I'm going to bring my memories from the doubles away with me and help me to improve.

Q. Will you be in the stands tomorrow to encourage Lois?

DIANE PARRY: No, because I'm going to be playing a match quickly afterwards.

Q. I'm talking about a new tournament. Are you going to have a new partner in doubles? Have you already picked someone?

CAROLINE GARCIA: It's not like we have played that many times together.

DIANE PARRY: No, we have had two wonderful tournaments. We haven't played for so long together, but last year I played lots of doubles with Harriet Dart, and we got on quite well.

So one of my priorities is going to be trying to improve my rankings in singles.

Q. Just to talk about Lois, can you tell us if she inspires you? Did you discover her at the same time as us, or do you know her already?

CAROLINE GARCIA: Well, no, we haven't discovered her as much as you did, but for someone who really follows women's tennis in France, they would know Lois's qualities. Over the last year, she has improved so much that she truly deserves what she got this week.

I have known her for a while. We have trained together in Lyon, and I've really seen her change. Her personality is different now, the way she speaks, and she opens up more now, and I'm really happy about that.

It's wonderful to see her here at the French Open, to see her with Diane, with Clara, and they're going to be a wonderful team when they come back. That's wonderful for French tennis.

You knew her, right?

DIANE PARRY: But I trained with her in the south before starting the clay season with her, and when we play against her, you can really see the quality of her game. She's a great player.

She has great lift, and she's got great tennis. It's amazing to see how fast she got back on track again after her very serious injury last year. It was fantastic for her to get back to her high level. She's got a very high level physically, and she's got very good tennis, as well. So I'm very happy for her.

This will be a very good experience for her to keep going to the end, and I hope she has a very good season.

CAROLINE GARCIA: I think Elsa had a really good attitude as well yesterday. I didn't see the whole match. She was down one break, and she was cheering herself on every point.

She looked at her box, and even during the match point, she showed a fist pump. In the past, her attitude has been criticized.

I think she was quite impressive over the entire tournament. Going into the round of 16, being two French players, that can't be easy. I think she did a wonderful job.

Q. Just a reference to the bigger circuit, you know, Lois has got to the round of 16. Do you think that will help her to keep going? Her surprise victory will help her to keep going?

DIANE PARRY: She's not finished yet.

CAROLINE GARCIA: Well, we don't know what's going to happen. Obviously Pegula is a clear favorite in terms of mental freshness, physical freshness, on paper, on numbers. But then again, it's tennis. She might be a favorite, but you never know what's gonna happen.
