SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC PRESENTED BY ACER

June 8, 2025

Sei Young Kim

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Sei Young after her final round at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Quite the round you had today, especially that back nine.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. Can you just talk about it a little bit?

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, it was like a rollercoaster, up and down, up and down. Yeah, back nine starting four hole I made three in a row birdie. My thoughts like it could be win, possibly.

That thinking made me a little bit nervous. That's why my tee shot hole 14 goes way right. Yeah, I mistake it from there so made a double. And Paul recommend me just layup but I couldn't hear and I didn't hear. I was like, no, I go that way. That made me a double bogey though.

Next hole still got the little nervous though so my chip-in wasn't relax and made a bogey.

And then I was like -- I was like try keep positive things, like good advice. Yeah, when I standing hole 17 I was like thinking what if I made hole-in-one, next hole birdie, what's going to happen?

So, yeah, it's dream come true, yeah.

Q. Sounds look you did exactly what you wanted.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. Talk about 17, club choice and what was going through your head and seeing the shot go in and your reaction.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, I mean, especially today the tees move up so I'm using meters, so 77 meter to the pin which is 85 yard.

So I took a 56, my wedge, and I try to hit -- it's a little bit downwind so I try to pitch it to the front edge. I hit the right number and I saw the bounce, one, and in.

I was like, wow. My skin everywhere was goosebump.

Q. What was your reaction with your playing partners? You had Jeeno.

SEI YOUNG KIM: She was like high five. I was like dancing but, no, it's one hole left. I was like, keep patient, keep patient.

Q. And then talk about approaching 18 and you were hoping to birdie 18 and you end up doing that. Can you just talk about that?

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, 18 tee move up like 30 yards and then downwind; was able to two shot with the 5-iron.

So, yeah, little short but that's good area to the two putt. Yeah, I finish pretty strong.

Q. Do you know how many hole-in-ones you've had, what number this was?

SEI YOUNG KIM: This is third time.

Q. On the LPGA?

SEI YOUNG KIM: No, this is second time on LPGA. One is in my KLPGA. So, yeah, always it feels great, yeah. Amazing.

Q. And then with your hole-in-one there will be money donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Did you know that?

SEI YOUNG KIM: No, I didn't know that.

Q. Yes.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Oh, wow. That's cool.

Q. Yeah, so what's your reaction to that and how does that make you feel?

SEI YOUNG KIM: It's feel good. It's great. Next time I want to keep doing it, yeah.

Q. What was your mindset coming into today? The past couple winners have come from three, four, five shots back.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. Were what you thinking today when you tee'd it up?

SEI YOUNG KIM: I just want to enjoy the golf because the last couple tournament I was like very grind myself but still result wasn't good.

So I just want to enjoy, and especially my pro-am guest is follow, cheer for me this week and they all really nice.

So, yeah, I got good energy. Yeah.

Q. What were the conditions like out there? We usually don't have weather like this in the final round, wind, rain.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. What was it like?

SEI YOUNG KIM: Because this course is totally different, and, yeah, I try to get my strong -- I like long irons so I have quite a confidence of going into today.

So, yeah, I have quite the confidence today. And then even then I don't think much. Just relax. And then Jeeno, she's a great player and we just talking and relax, enjoy. Yeah.

Q. You don't know what's going to happen the rest of the day but what would winning mean to you?

SEI YOUNG KIM: It's been a long time, last time I win.

Q. Yeah, I didn't want to say that.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah, I don't know. If that happens, so emotional, yeah. I'm still work, hard for that.

Q. Lastly, you talked about it at the beginning have you ever had a 9-hole or 8-hole stretch like that?

SEI YOUNG KIM: I know. I don't want play like that, I like stable play but golf is golf, right? That's golf.

Q. What are you planning to do for the rest of your time here? Looks like the leaders are making the turn now. What's your thought process here?

SEI YOUNG KIM: I don't know. Just they have nine hole left, so just -- because my flight is coming soon I'm going to change my flight. Just rest and we'll see what's going to happen, prepare for the playoff.
