Jake Knapp

Caledon, Ontario, Canada

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Playing on the weekend. How did your third round go?

JAKE KNAPP: Pretty solid for the most part. Felt like I gave myself a good number of chances. Unfortunately missed some kind of short to midrange putts today, but overall felt like I kind of made it easy on myself, and I was able to mosey along and make some good birdies and give myself a chance going into tomorrow.

Q. What have you been working on, and what's it like to see it come into play during a competition round?

JAKE KNAPP: I think Mike and I, we talked -- my caddie and I, we talked about maybe some of the things that he saw in my game leading up to some of the weeks that needed to change. I think the beginning part of the season goes really fast. You're playing a lot of weeks in a row, so maybe you're not practicing as much.

Just tried to focus on a few very simple things, wedge game and putting and kind of start lines with irons and things like that, and tried to tighten everything up. Didn't feel like I was far off but also wasn't scoring. Worked on some of that scoring stuff, and it's paid off a bit this week.

Q. Of the birdies out there today, what's it like to birdie at the Rink today?

JAKE KNAPP: It's cool to birdie. You want to try to hit close. It's obviously a wedge in the wind, so you're planning on it to spin back a good amount and maybe get a good look to go in. But being able to drip that one over the front edge felt nice.

Q. You're a PGA TOUR Canada alum. You have a lot of experience golfing out here. Obviously the Canadian guys have gotten a lot of love and the majority of the hometown support, but how has it felt for you being back here in Canada playing at this Canadian Open?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, it's been cool. I've run into some people at the event that I played in Pro-Ams with all across Canada and whatnot on the Canadian Tour. Definitely a lot of familiarity and probably more fans out here than your normal American player.

Yeah, it's cool. Then I got to see some of the people that work with the Canadian Tour still and run into them. It's been nice this week to be able to catch up with some old friends.

Q. Has that been a comfort factor for you going through this week that's helped you get to this point?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, I think so. Also playing here in 2019 on the Canadian Tour, being familiar with the course, I feel like I know what's going on off the greens and on tee shots, so kind of know what to expect day in and day out.

Q. You're not too far back now. What's it going to take tomorrow to try to make a run at this thing?

JAKE KNAPP: There's a lot of 63s and 64s today, and I'm assuming there's going to be a couple of those early tomorrow morning and probably going to have to do about the same. Probably get close to 20-ish or something like that and try to go post a number.
