Quick Quotes
Q. Ryan, another solid round today. Can you just talk about what went right out there?
RYAN FOX: To be honest, everything went pretty right. I drove it great. I think, if you do that round here, you give yourself lots of chances. Had a lot of good wedge shots, holed a few putts early. Just played really solid kind of stress-free golf for the most part.
Maybe one bad drive on 17, made a nice par, but the rest of it felt pretty easy. Hopefully can keep those vibes going for tomorrow.
Q. Co-leading heading into Sunday, a win on this Tour earlier this season, does that give you confidence going into tomorrow?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, a different situation. I always felt like I was on the outside looking in at Myrtle Beach but then kind of chipped in, and it was a bit of a whirlwind.
Yeah, I just feel a bit more comfortable in my own shoes. I feel like I belong a bit more out here, and just stuff doesn't seem to matter quite as much after getting that first win. Just there's a bit more freedom there. I'll take that into tomorrow, take that confidence knowing that I've done it and see what happens.
Obviously there's a lot of good players behind me. Yeah, there's a low score out there, so I feel like it's going to take a pretty low one out there tomorrow to get the job done. No change in game plan or anything. Just go out and give it a go and see what happens.
Q. Anything you did differently today than you did the past two rounds?
RYAN FOX: Not really. Probably hit a couple of wedge shots closer in terms of scoring. To be honest, it's been really solid tee to green the last three days. I feel like it's a golf course that suits my eye. I feel pretty comfortable with a lot of the tee shots and stuff out here.
Yeah, go out and hopefully I can do the same thing tomorrow.
Q. Three-birdie start. What's it like to have that momentum to start off the weekend?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, it was perfect. I had a terrible second shot into 1 in the bunker, hit a great bunker shot, nice little putt. Then holed two nice putts on 2 and 3 and had a nice little horseshoe on 4 actually for birdie. It was a perfect start.
I looked at the leaderboard early, and there was a lot of guys going low, 3-, 4-, 5-under through 12. You know there's plenty of birdies out there, but it's nice to get a few out early and feel like you take a little bit of pressure off that way.
Q. We can hear the crowds now. What's it like playing a National Open? Not necessarily yours, but just the big crowds out here?
RYAN FOX: It's cool. My second Canadian Open. I loved it last year. I got to play with Mack Hughes in the last round, and the support for him out there is amazing. You can see it out there now. Obviously Nick Taylor's just come in.
Something about a National Open. Playing in Europe for a lot of years, we played a lot of them, and something feels special with them. Yeah, it's a great atmosphere to be in, and I'm looking forward to it tomorrow.
Q. Looks like pairing-wise could be playing with Matteo Manassero. Have you guys played together in the past?
RYAN FOX: Yeah, played together in the past. He was on Tour when I first got on and then dropped off. It's been unbelievable to see him come back the way he has and not only get back on the DP World Tour, but then get himself out here.
Yeah, it will be fun walking around with him tomorrow. It would be nice if we both go out and play well. It's always nice in a group when two guys are going well. Jake and I had that today where it was kind of the momentum was there.
Yeah, we'll see what happens tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
