SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC PRESENTED BY ACER

June 7, 2025

Mao Saigo

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Mao Saigo after the second round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Great round today including an albatross. Can you just talk about your round.

MAO SAIGO: I had a bogey first but right after that I had an albatross. From there I was able to keep my momentum going. It was a good round.

Q. How far away was the albatross?

MAO SAIGO: 214 with 7-wood.

Q. Was it meters or yards?

MAO SAIGO: Yards.

Q. Yards, okay. Have you had an albatross before?

MAO SAIGO: No, first time.

Q. First time?

MAO SAIGO: Yeah.

Q. Did you see it go in?

MAO SAIGO: No.

Q. How did you know it went in?

MAO SAIGO: So the audience made the sounds so that's why I knew.

Q. Being close to the lead here heading into the final round be won already this season, just what kind of confidence does that give you going into a final round now having a win and knowing you can do it?

MAO SAIGO: So the afternoon groups are not down yet so I'm not sure how much they going to make scores, but I will keep doing my play tomorrow and just be myself.

Q. So just to play off the last question, a lot of the other golfers at the top of the leaderboard haven't won before. Do you think your experience as a winner will help you tomorrow?

MAO SAIGO: To me, it doesn't really matter who has won how many times. It's like at that tournament who plays the best and who has the best technique for the course wins the week.

Doesn't matter for me.

Q. Lastly, obviously this course can give up a lot of low scores; the winner tomorrow will probably shoot low. How do you balance the need to make birdies with staying patient and not getting outside of yourself?

MAO SAIGO: So the greens here, poana greens, is not my favorite greens, so whenever I miss putt I try to think it's not my fault. (Smiling.)

You know, just keep making my stroke and playing my game and hopefully it will lead to the birdies.
