SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC PRESENTED BY ACER

June 7, 2025

Elizabeth Szokol

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

.

Q. All right, here with Elizabeth Szokol after her second round. How would you describe today's round for you?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: Pretty good. Definitely hard to beat yesterday's; had it going pretty good. Still really solid day. Hit some great golf shots and made some really good putts early on to save par.

Great save on No. 4. Had to take an unplayable off the tee and got up and down for about 130 yards. Really happy with that.

Finished on a birdie, so going off on a good note for tomorrow.

Q. Finished with a little bit of rain, but still managed to get the birdie at the end. What was the patience there and the final push at the end to get it back?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: Definitely. Just trying to stay patient all day. Didn't quite have things go as great as yesterday but still playing really good golf. So just taking it one shot at a time and staying under the umbrella as much as I could that last hole and really happy to walk away making a long putt on the last for birdie.

Q. What's it like to play that last couple holes in pretty decent rain?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It's always an added challenge. I enjoy the challenge of it. I think it keeps you more focused, which is great. Did it a couple weeks ago when we played in Liberty National, so I always enjoy the challenge. I grew up in Chicago so all sorts of the weather growing up there.

Just try and embrace it. Everyone has to deal with it. Just do the best I can on every shot.

Q. I know it's a long way to go, but what would winning tomorrow mean to you?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It would obviously be amazing. I'm not quite letting myself get there. Just want to go shot by shot and still put a good round together. Really just focused on hitting the fairway the first tee shot tomorrow and go from there.

Q. What's the balance? You know you got to shoot low here. What's the balance you have to strike between going shot by shot and not panicking if you don't make three birdies right away or something?

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: Yeah, it's golf. It's always up and down and birdies can come at any time. I think just staying in my process and focusing on what I'm doing and just keep hitting good golf shots and rolling good putts and let's see what happens.

Q. What are your favorite parts about this event? Seems like a very local feel, hometown event.

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It's amazing. It's been here for so long. It's amazing that the Tour keeps coming back, so that's pretty incredible that ShopRite has been such a long-standing sponsor; and always great to be back here and so nice staying at the hotel this week, just walking over to the golf course every morning.

So it's been great, and lots of fans were out yesterday when we tee'd off and looking forward to tomorrow.

Q. What does it mean to be provided with accommodations this week.

ELIZABETH SZOKOL: It's amazing. Since my rookie year that's incredible how much that's improved. It's great for everyone to be staying at the same place. It's so easy and obviously takes one expense off us as players.

It's amazing and a great privilege, and it's really great for the sponsor and the tournament to do that for us.
