Quick Quotes

Q. First of all, you look fantastic today. Do you think the new drip had anything to do with your good round?

MARTIN KAYMER: Obviously the clothing is not the changing factor, but it does help when you feel like you're looking good, and you feel good if you wear the right stuff.

I had the pleasure of playing golf for many years. You also, when you wear something nice, it makes you feel good.

I hit a lot of fairways to do it today. I made a few good putts today. That was the main reason I played well.

Q. You led the field today in putts per GIR. Did you feel different with the putter? Was there anything coming into the round that put you in position to make that many putts today?

MARTIN KAYMER: I didn't have that many difficult putts, but you still need to put a good stroke on it. I spent a lot of time on the putting green the last two days, felt good within 10 feet. Fortunately I didn't miss any of those within 10 feet today, which was huge.

I kept the bogeys off the scorecard, had only one bogey on the toughest one on the course, I guess it's 12. Overall I feel comfortable on those greens. They run pure.

Q. Can you talk a little bit about the birdie streak you went on to end the round before you parred 1?

MARTIN KAYMER: Yeah, 16, 17, 18, are they birdie holes? Not really, but you can make birdies there. I just hit it within seven, eight feet every hole. I hit really good approach shots. Put myself in good position, hit the fairway, the green, and made the putt.

It seems very simple, but it's never easy coming back from a break. So you don't know what to expect. On 16 I hit a really poor tee shot and got extremely lucky and hit it to six, seven feet.

Q. Does it give you confidence going into the next few days? Your last lead was Houston last year. Do you feel like you can build off that and get into contention over the weekend?

MARTIN KAYMER: I know I'm good enough. I know I can play good golf. I've proven many, many times in my career. But you need to continue hitting fairways, and that was the downside for me the past few months. I was missing so many fairways.

Today the game is there, but if you're always in the rough or in the trees, it was very difficult to score.
