May 29, 2025

Nasa Hataoka

Erin Hills, Wisconsin, USA

Erin Hills GC

Flash Interview

THE MODERATOR: Joined by Nasa Hataoka. 3-under 69. Nasa, another good round for you at the U.S. Open. What do you like about the test of a U.S. Open?

NASA HATAOKA: Yes, this is a tough course, and so that while we are working on the practice round I talked with the caddie and then we kind of separated, this is where that I have to attack and this is a place where I defend myself.

We were able to, well I was able to play the way that we planned.

Q. Is that something you take as an approach every week or is that different at a U.S. Open?

NASA HATAOKA: So this is a strategy I use often; however at the course like this difficult course it is more, it becomes more important to make it clear where I should defend and where I should be more aggressive.

Q. What was your first reaction to the Erin Hills course this week?

NASA HATAOKA: So that the fairway bunkers are very difficult. Once the ball goes in there all I can do is just get it out of there kind of. So that is, so that's very difficult.

So I have to make a good tee shot, and once I made a good shot, then the second shot onward I would like to use the shorter club and do better.

THE MODERATOR: All right. Thank you.
