THE MODERATOR: Out early in the morning. How would you assess your first round?

MATTI SCHMID: Yeah, obviously very pleased. I mean, I made a lot of birdies. I rolled the putter really nicely and hit some really nice iron shots. Had a couple of bogeys, but that happens out here. Overall, yeah, very pleased with the round.

THE MODERATOR: Of the birdies, does one stick out in particular?

MATTI SCHMID: I mean, I would say 13 right after I made a double on 12. I made a great swing with a 7-iron and had quite a bit of a curler right to left. I was able to make that, so that was very good and also for momentum very good.

THE MODERATOR: What is the course giving us this week? Obviously you showed there was a lot of scorable opportunities, but how is it playing?

MATTI SCHMID: It's tricky. The fairways are so firm, so it's really tough to hit the fairways. If you are coming out of the rough, you really have to play the angles and the bounces. Almost a bit of links golf, I would say.

It's tricky, you have to be on with it how you -- yeah, with the punches and the pitches. Yeah, tricky.

THE MODERATOR: Last time we saw you, you were trending with a good weekend at Myrtle Beach. Where are you feeling most comfortable with your game right now?

MATTI SCHMID: I would say the iron play has been nice for a couple of weeks now. Putter has been solid. Short game has gotten a lot better. Yeah, overall pretty happy, yeah.
