Quick Quotes
MARC DULL: My partner knew his daughter's graduation was around the same time that this event was. He got the dates maybe a month or two ago, and he's just like, hey, do you want to play, but if we win our first match, you're going to have to be playing by yourself on day two. He's like, if you win both, something crazy happens, I'll come back. So yes, I knew coming into this that I was going to have to play by myself today.
Q. So kind of just take me through the day. What was your mentality even entering today?
MARC DULL: Just going into today, I was playing better golf as the days went on, so I was just trying to go into today -- this is a good golf course. There's no good golf course to play two on one, but this is a golf course where it's doable, where you don't have to go shoot 7-, 8-under. You can go shoot 1, 2 or 3 or have a chance. I was just going into today going, try not to make any mistakes, try not to do anything silly, just play my game and make a birdie here or there, just not get ahead of myself, just stay in it. I knew pars were good, so that's kind of what I was trying to do today.
Q. How do you deal with the two-on-one aspect? You can't take any holes off. What's that like?
MARC DULL: That's correct, yeah. So with this golf course that we're playing this week, I felt like if I hit it in the fairway, usually there was very rarely two guys in the fairway out here because the fairways are just so narrow and the rough is so deep, so I figured if I hit it in the fairway I figured it was kind of more of a one-v-one. I told myself, if I drive it well, I'd have a chance, which I did. I drove it great for 36 holes or whatever we played today, 34 holes.
Q. Then you made that big birdie putt on 16 --
MARC DULL: Oh, man, yeah, that was the one. So excited. I was like, we're back in the game. I was like, my thought was, let's shock the world. We already did it once; come on, now we've got a chance. Just hit a poor shot on 17, but that got me right back in it. I'm like, we've got a chance to do something special here.
Q. You came up just short but still made history today. What are you taking away from today?
MARC DULL: It's so much fun, man. This is why I play golf. This is why I enjoy golf. I like the competition side of it. I'm not a golf nerd, I don't know the swing. I just like to play golf. So this is why I play golf. So I had a blast today. I'm exhausted mentally, not physically because I walk all the time, but mentally I'm exhausted. Brain is fried. I'm ready to kick the feet up and have a cocktail maybe.
