THE G4D OPEN

May 16, 2025

Thomas Colombel

Woburn, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. A 72 today to give you a combined 3-over. How do you feel about how you played today?

THOMAS COLOMBEL: I'm really happy actually. I birdied all the par 5s, four different ways but birdie at the end. I played some tremendous golf but the putts didn't drop really on the back nine. I had a few low points on 8 and 9 where I was dead center on the fairway, and I made two bogeys but I was not worried.

I just kept going and trust the process with my caddie. We did a great job today. It was really good. We were like super pumped on the course. Of course we stayed aware of where I was going compared to the other guys. Some guys started really strong. I'm really happy with what I did. It was really solid, just like I did -- I said to you yesterday, I'm pretty sure I'm doing it the right way and I'm proving it to me today. So I'm really happy with that.

Q. Were you proud of yourself the way you had two bogeys and you didn't let it affect you?

THOMAS COLOMBEL: Sure. I did like birdie on 6, great save for par on 7 and then two bogeys, and then I did a super 10th hole where I made a birdie, so of course the momentum just came back.

And then I saved a good par on 11 after making a bad putt thinking on the fairway, again, but I've made like an up-and-down from 30 yards with a good shot.

The momentum was on. Unfortunately on 13, I did a bad thing on the tee, behind the tree, and then I made a bogey. Nearly made a par. And then I just kept going, believing in myself, and I had like put myself into great chances from 13 to 18 and just one drop unfortunately. But it's better than zero.

So yeah, I'm really happy and I handled the pressure well. I made a few adjustments on the range this morning and my putting was really, really good under eight feet. I think I haven't missed one today. So on this type of course, it's really, really important.

Q. And so would you say that you actually, it was all about having actual fun today; you were in the zone and you actually had fun?

THOMAS COLOMBEL: Yeah, was not far away from the zone but the end I was in the zone. I played 1-under on the back nine and nearly bogey-free. Of course I was on, and yeah, like I said, just some putts to drop to go low.

But it feels low because when you see the other guys playing and with the weather we have here, the course is getting harder and harder with the firm greens. You have to be aware of where you're going. So I feel like level today is like 6-under on another easy course, let's say. So I'm really, really happy.

Q. How will you go about trying to win tomorrow?

THOMAS COLOMBEL: I decided this morning just to let go and see what's coming. So this was the man traffic the day, just to not have fun just see what's coming and not trying to calculate. Because yesterday I tried to calculate, and it's golf, so you're trying to do something, and something else happens, and this is what I kind of do on the eighth and ninth.

Tomorrow is another day. Today I'm just happy there is some sunshine this afternoon. We have a quite fun afternoon with my caddie. We have some putting contest, and tomorrow I will just enjoy and see what happens, that's it.
