Q. Highlights of the day?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Holed a good putt on 15 for birdie. Holed air few good putts but probably the highlight was -- I kind of felt like I was in the zone today. Can't really remember many shots. Putting the first definitely gets your day going. The course is phenomenal, tough, bouncy, different to last year. If you pulled a little to the left, you can hold the fairway and this year, the trees. So it's a proper test.
Q. Strange kind of day; the weather.
BRENDAN LAWLOR: What makes it tough is the winds is above the trees, and it's tough to catch where it is and you can be downwind and your ball is stalling in the air. It's definitely hard to pick clubs going into greens.
Q. You won in '23. I take it that's the target then this week?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, big time. I feel I'm playing the best golf I've kind of played that long time, especially on the greens. My ball-striking is pretty good enough when I get to tournaments but the greens let me down usually. If I can keep the way I'm putting up for the next two days, hopefully go back out and win the trophy.
Q. No Kip, which is disappointing but with the rivalry you had, he's not here, boosts your chances?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: You don't want to see anyone not play because of an injury like that. He's an extremely good competitor. The last two years we've had a serious battle. It went right down to the last both years. Not seeing him here is a shame.
But there are a lot of good players out there that could go well this week. It's not my main focus. I'm just going to focus on myself and keep doing what I'm doing.
Q. How nice is it to be back again?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: It's unreal. It's a shame we won't be back here for a fourth year. I think it's moving somewhere else. But just the hospitality, the people, the volunteers, I want to thank them all, as well for doing such a great job. It's not many events you go to, there's ball spotters. Especially you need them around here, there's a lot of trees. There would be a few lost balls if it weren't for them this week. It's incredible.
Q. Do you put a number on what you need to win this week going into the final two rounds?
BRENDAN LAWLOR: Not really. It depends what the weather does. Obviously it looks good for the next two days but it could blow. I don't really -- I'm just going to focus on my own thing and see how low I can go. I want to finish the event under par. Probably 1- or 2-over wouldn't be too far away, either. See what happens.
