Q. The way you kept going for it with your forehand in the third set, how comfortable were you today with that shot?

PEYTON STEARNS: Yeah, I mean, going into matches like this, if you don't hit the ball, you're not going to win. I think mentally I was like, You have to get every ball. If you miss, you miss, but you have to go for it.

Q. The aerial display in the second set, did that put you off at all? Quite unexpected.

PEYTON STEARNS: They forewarned us before the match it was going to happen maybe an hour in. But I thought it was kind of cool. I didn't realize it was going to cause a little smoke on the court. But overall it was a pretty cool show.

Q. Did you injure yourself on match point?

PEYTON STEARNS: No injuries. Just really pushed myself to the limit out there, so I was throwing up. I got to put the fluids back in the body. Feeling a little tired now, but I've got a lot of time to recover.

Q. (Questions about third-set tiebreaks.)

PEYTON STEARNS: I did not know that.

Q. How does that feel?

PEYTON STEARNS: That's pretty cool.

Q. Do you feel you're good under pressure?

PEYTON STEARNS: No, not really. I feel like before here and Madrid, in third sets I was coming out on the short end of it. It's nice to finally be on the flipside even in these tight tiebreakers.

PEYTON STEARNS: Yeah, I think mentally it's just being confident and trusting myself and knowing that, you know what, if you lose this match, you just got to go practice and there's another tournament next week, so so be it.
