MIZUHO AMERICAS OPEN

May 10, 2025

Nelly Korda

Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

Liberty National Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Nelly Korda after the third round at Mizuho Americas Open, a third round of 68 here. How happy are you with the consistency over the last three days, especially with all the different conditions you've faced?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it's been nice. Tough conditions definitely today with the wind swirling and just kind of gusting, but overall very happy with the way it turned out today.

Q. Seeing the wind on the forecase, what was some of the game plan for you heading into today?

NELLY KORDA: I walked onto the putting green, and Jason told me the word of the day is acceptance. Not really a game plan, but knowing that I'm going to make mistakes, the wind's going to blow my ball a different direction than I want it to, and just have to have a positive mindset. That was kind of the main thing that I focused on.

Q. What would you say were some of the key moments out there today?

NELLY KORDA: I mean, there were a couple. Some of my bounce-back birdies, I mean, the birdie I had on No. 3. A bogey on the 1st hole is never a nice way to start, but kind of got it back. Capitalized on a couple of the par-5s too.

But 13 and I are not getting along right now (laughter). I have an iron into the green and just have not gotten off on that hole very well.

Q. That's okay. There's always tomorrow.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah.

Q. Speaking of tomorrow, going in just a couple strokes out of the lead. I know you love to be in this position. What's sort of your mindset heading into tomorrow just a few strokes back?

NELLY KORDA: Just kind of stick to my game plan. I'm not going to sway away from it. I'm going to be aggressive where I can, and I'm not if I'm out of position. So it just depends on how I'm playing that day and if I can kind of run after it.

But the mindset is going to be, at the end of the day, you've got to chase that leader.

Q. Obviously a really stacked leaderboard, some of the best in the world, you, Jeeno, Celine, all fighting for that title. What does that say about this course or the state of the talent out here on this tricky golf course?

NELLY KORDA: This golf course, it's funny, it's like a links, but it has a lot of water. Typically when we play a links overseas, you don't have that much water, that much hazard around. So it's tricky when it gets this windy because you don't have an out really.

You just have to be really consistent off the tee, really consistent into the greens, especially with the pin positions that sometimes they place. The greens are tough too.

You just have to be on at all times. It's very tough to win out here. The talent is just getting better and better every year. So you've just got to be 100 percent every single time you come out here.
