Q. All right, here with Christine Wang after her first round at the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion. Take us through the first round on the LPGA Tour. Obviously had a great round.

CHRISTINE WANG: Yeah. It was a great round. I'm super stoked. I played honestly some really great golf. I don't know what to say. (Smiling.)

I just didn't really realize I was playing my first LPGA tournament until like hole 3. I think I was a little nervous until then. Then I realized it's just golf and I got into it and all good from there.

Q. I was going to ask you, what were some of the thoughts and things you were thinking about as you were getting ready to tee off today?

CHRISTINE WANG: At first on the first tee I was just kind of thinking, it's just another round. But then after I tee'd off and I see like there is actually people watching and like, you know, everything that's going on with an LPGA tournament, it kind of clicked for me.

But I want to give a shoutout to the girls I played with. They were super nice, which made my feel really comfortable.

Q. Who you did play with?

CHRISTINE WANG: Brittany and Aditi.

Q. Hit all 14 fairways today. Was that the key or what were the keys to success out there?

CHRISTINE WANG: I didn't know I hit all 14 fairways. Before my round that was actually a goal of mine, to be confident and committed off the tees, so I'm glad I did that.

Q. How does this course bring out some of the strengths of your game and what are some of the trickier aspects of it?

CHRISTINE WANG: Well, one of my strengths is hitting the fairway with my driver, but obviously not a lot of drives out here. A lot of the 3-wood shots.

But I like my short game. I think I worked really hard on my putting my coach, Brenden. I think this course really favors good putter and good short game people.

Q. Obviously you're very excited and a lot of energy right now. How do you maybe kind of -- it's like you said, when you're in the round, kind of -- I never know how to phrase this -- bring down the excitement and remember you're just playing golf again. How do you mentally do that?

CHRISTINE WANG: I just look at the canyons. It's so pretty out here. Just look at the canyons, take a breath, talk to my caddie. Super cool. Yeah, I don't know. It's just golf, right?

Q. Your mom is here. How exciting is it to have her here and support you?

CHRISTINE WANG: Yeah, no, my mom is great. Maybe tomorrow she'll come out and actually watch me. (Laughter.)

Honestly I think she was a little nervous. No, it's really nice to have. My boyfriend is out here, too. It's nice to just have people that are in your corner just cheering me on every hole.

Q. What will you take from this round heading into tomorrow and hopefully the rest of the weekend?

CHRISTINE WANG: That I earned my spot here. I played a qualifier to get in here, to get the sponsor's exemption. I was a little nervous because I've never been in a field like this. Clearly the game is there, so, yeah, that's all.
