Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Ruoning Yin after her third round it the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion. Just a phenomenal round from you, 62. What was working so well for you?
RUONING YIN: Everything. (Smiling.)
I think basically my putting is very good. It's on spot. And then also my approach shot give me, like give myself a lot of chances to make birdies.
And also we got couple short Par-5 and par-4s, which is like also going to help the low score.
Q. Did you see a 62 coming this week, especially with this course and how narrow and daunting it might look?
RUONING YIN: I did not. Honestly did not see that coming. But after the first day here and shoot pretty low I was like, okay, that's doable.
I just tried to put the ball on the fairway, green, and make some putts.
Q. You were extremely accurate today. Only missed one green, one fairway missed. How much of that lent to your success today?
RUONING YIN: I mean, my tee shot was pretty solid from last week to this week. I think yesterday I got 14 fairways, so stay on fairway definitely helped me make some birdies.
Q. When you're going through a round like this, does it ever click in your mind, hey, this is a pretty good round?
RUONING YIN: Not really. I mean, I know, like I say, if I can put my ball on the fairway I can have a lot of birdie chances, but I just try to stay in the present.
I didn't think about the score that much until last hole. Last hole, again, it's a short Par-5 and I have chance to reach in two. Also, I know 10-under, if I make birdie, 10-under will be my best score.
So I just tried to make birdie there.
Q. Looking on the week as a whole, what have you made of play Black Desert Resort? How does this course suit some of your strengths?
RUONING YIN: I think it's definitely -- this course, I mean, you got to, like I say, you got to put your ball on the fairway. Some hole might be a little narrow but I just use shorter clubs, even I have longer approach shots. But it's safe, you know. At least I can make par and I can try to make birdie at other holes.
Q. We're playing in some of the highest elevation we've seen on Tour and probably will see on Tour. How much can that affect some of your numbers? Did you have to dial back your club numbers or has it helped you get a little more off the tee?
RUONING YIN: Definitely I hit it a lot further this week, which I love it. I wish I can hit this far every week.
But, you know, I'm hitting farther also helps me for the approach shot because I'm using shorter clubs. Definitely helped the accuracy.
Q. How do you take the good from this round but also knowing next round is a brand new round, anything can happen? How do you balance that?
RUONING YIN: I mean, tomorrow is going to be a brand new day. I'm just going to keep saying this: Stay in the present and the past is the past.
I mean, you cannot guaranteeing every day is gonna be a good day like today, but you just got to keep trying and keep trying to have a great day.
