BLACK DESERT CHAMPIONSHIP

May 3, 2025

Esther Henseleit

Ivins, Utah, USA

Black Desert Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joined by Esther Henseleit after her third round here at the Black Desert Resort. Sarah just said, a very fun scorecard. Just take us through the stretch of four birdies in a row.

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, played really good again. Rolled in some nice putts, especially those four in a row. Holed some good putts, some short holes that you really want to take advantage of, so that was good.

And, yeah, then it got pretty windy, pretty gusty. Sadly made a bogey on that par-3. Although I hit good shot, just got unlucky with the lie and rough. Yeah, 18 wasn't the finish I imagined, but still another day to go.

Q. With the weather and everything we had today, how did that affect the course differently than we've seen it the last couple days?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, it was definitely hotter today and the greens are getting firmer and firmer so it's pretty hard to get even wedges to stop now. Yeah, definitely a challenge. It was good to get I guess eight birdies out there. Still a few mistakes, but overall really good.

Q. Yeah, 22 birdies on the whole week. What is it that you're doing? Is it the approach? The putting? What's working so well to give you these birdie opportunities?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, a bit of both. I'm hitting it really good and, yeah, really good putting from that middle distance, kind of makable range.

So, yeah, really pleased with that.

Q. When you have that finish after such a spectacular day, how do you reset and get ready to go chase tomorrow?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, I mean, I guess you have to just think about the good shots you hit. Same as yesterday really. Just one bad swing that cost me in the end.

Yeah, just focus on the good things and remember all the birdies from today and get ready for tomorrow.

Q. I know you were joking earlier in the week. Your caddie, he is newer on your bag, but talking about every time you go to a golf course it's like how many times did you win at this golf course. How excited are you to contend for a win for Brooker maybe, to win for the first time here at Black Desert Resort?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, it would be great. I'm just going to try to focus on myself and try to keep hitting solid shots and good putts, and then we'll see how it ends tomorrow.

Q. How encouraged are you about by your performance heading into the final round?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, it's been solid this week, solid the last few weeks really. So I know that I can play well out here, and, yeah, I'm just enjoying the time out there.

Q. For the players who aren't here, when you're at a Tour event down the road and they ask you about this place, what are you going to tell them?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, it's stunning. I've never seen anything like it before. On every hole you have a good view. You want it soak it all in.

It's amazing condition as well. Yeah, I think I'm really looking forward to coming back here.

Q. I know you told Mel the other day when you were competing on the Solheim and the silver medal you love the pressure and you can really focus. How much of that will you take into this final round tomorrow?

ESTHER HENSELEIT: Yeah, I mean, it's always fun to be in contention and you're kind of a little bit nervous, but I always see it as something positive. That's why we put in all those hours of practice and that's what you're working for, so, yeah, you just try to enjoy it out there.
