Black Desert Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Auston Kim wrapping up here at the Black Desert Championship. Really awesome round to finish this tournament. Started on 10. Had what was it, five birdies in a row. Talk about that start for you.

AUSTON KIM: Yeah, it was pretty cool. It was dark, it was rainy, it was windy, and I hit it really close five holes in a row and managed to make all those putts.

I two-putted on 13. Just missed the eagle.

Yeah, five really good holes in a row and I just took advantage and rode the wave.

Q. What do you think it says about your resilience? Conditions weren't great; it's the final round; you really pushed up the leaderboard with this round. What do you think it says about your resilience?

AUSTON KIM: I feel like I've had a lot of moments tested me already this year, and there have been moments where I wondered why it wasn't getting any easier especially after last year.

But I think it's important to remember that it's as you going to be hard. Golf is a hard sport. This is a hard job. It's hard to play competitive golf.

But today I just felt like I was enjoying it. Just stayed in the moment. Hit a lot of good shots. Hit a lot of good putts.

So I'm pretty proud of my performance today.

Q. Capped off with two birdies on the last two holes. How sweet was that? Were you thinking what number you were at?

AUSTON KIM: Not really. Just trying to have the best finish possible. Today was one of those days where I was setting up, I could see all the lines, and I was hitting all the putts really well.

After missing a bunch of putts the past few weeks, being able to finally pour a couple in like that, it was a really good feeling.

Q. How much more confident do you feel after today? Obviously just signed your scorecard. What do you think this will help moving forward in the season?

AUSTON KIM: Yeah, I think it's a lot of mental strengths that I've been able to generate the past few weeks; a lot of reassuring; a lot of building for sure.

I think last week Sunday was a really tough way to finish after playing really, really well the first three days at Chevron.

Being able to take those first three days with me here rather than focusing on the tough last day, but I feel like I've been playing some really, really good golf as of late.

Just happy that the result was able to reflect how I've been feeling today.

Q. And last one: What do you think you're enjoying most about your second year out here not being a rookie anymore, know a little bit more. Events like this are new for everybody, but you're going back to some repeat events now.

AUSTON KIM: Yeah, I think I feel a lot more comfortable, a lot more at ease. I'm joking around a little bit more and having a little bit more fun with it. I don't feel as uptight as I did last year having to be so serious and tense all the time.

But I feel like I can have a little bit more fun and enjoy my time out here more and be smart with my time. So, yeah, some good experiences so far.
