Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Welcome everyone to the first press conference of LIV Golf Korea presented by Coupang Play.
We're joined here by the Iron Heads team: Captain Kevin Na, Yubin Jang, Danny Lee, and Jinichiro Kozuma.
Kevin, I'll start with you. LIV Golf is making its debut here in Korea this week, a country that's known for its passionate golf fans. How do you think Korean fans are going to embrace LIV Golf?
KEVIN NA: First, we're extremely excited that LIV Golf is playing in Korea. The league and the team has made a lot of efforts to get this tournament here.
I personally, myself, and the team and the league thinks that the LIV Golf concept will be enjoyed and loved by -- (interruption). You all right? I think the Korean golf fans will really love and enjoy the concept of LIV and our atmosphere.
Korean golf fans have a huge love for the game of golf, and I think it's like a lifestyle for the Korean people. I really hope they enjoy and many people come and support the Iron Heads and support LIV Golf.
Q. Kevin, second question for you. LIV Golf has been growing so quickly around the world. How do you see LIV Golf's impact on the game globally and now its potential here in Korea?
KEVIN NA: Yes, I feel like every country we go to, we've made an impact. The fans that were skeptical have turned around, and they've really enjoyed and embraced the LIV Golf and our format. I think it will be the same in Korea.
I know many people are learning about LIV Golf through watching the telecast on Coupang Play. Also, we have our docuseries Reforged that's just come out. As they're learning, I think that they are interested, and at the same time, they're becoming fans.
I think, once they get a taste of what it's going to be like this week, I know for sure they're going to love it.
Q. Danny, question for you. Korean fans are especially passionate. What are you most looking forward to playing in front of them this week as the home team?
DANNY LEE: What was the question again?
Q. What are you most looking forward to playing here in Korea as Iron Heads being the home team?
DANNY LEE: I think we have a lot of pressure this week because it's our home game, and everybody, I think even the LIV and Korean fans, they have a very high expectation of us playing well this week.
I think we've got to just put that on the side and just keep our head down and just play our game and play some good golf. Hopefully, we can make something special.
Q. Yubin, as one of the new members of the LIV Golf league, can you share your experience so far with LIV Golf? And how much have you enjoyed playing on this team?
YUBIN JANG: Considering I've only played individually as a professional golf player, this is my first time playing as a team sport. So I hope this will also be beneficial for not only me as a player, but also in our careers.
I believe that we really learned perseverance through this. Considering that we have given it all during our practice, I hope that we can actually play professionally and also amuse you on the grounds.
Q. Jini, one question for you. You made your comeback last week at LIV Golf in Mexico City, finishing 21st. Can you talk us through how your game feels coming into Korea this week?
JINICHIRO KOZUMA: My back feeling better. I'm ready.
KEVIN NA: Ichiban!
Q. Kevin, I just want to know what you think about Jini coming back to the league like this.
KEVIN NA: The boys last week on Sunday, after he played, we told Jini, Jini, you're sexy.
We are extremely happy to have Jini back. He's an incredible player. We've seen Jini grow as a player more and more every tournament he plays. At the team championship, he showed a lot of guts. Under the pressure, he performed like a world star player.
It was unfortunate that Jini was hurt at the beginning of the year. Our team was impacted because of Jini's injury, but we're extremely happy to have him back. To have him perform pretty well last week, especially on Sunday -- 6-under par on that golf course on Sunday was very exciting to see.
He's become one of our family, and we support Jini, and we're all fans of Jini. We love him, and we're happy he's back.
