Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome the winner of LIV Golf Mexico City 2025, the captain of Torque GC, Mr. Joaquin Niemann. You fired off a 16-under to win the tournament by three shots. It was a bit of a battle out there today. Tell us a little bit about your day and reflecting on this win.

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it was a good battle. Starting off the day, I knew I needed to obviously do something special, having Bryson three shots ahead and the way he's been playing, also Cam with the really good first two rounds and the caliber of a player he is.

Today was a really exciting Sunday for me to be out there with them in the last group, especially in Mexico, and I kind of felt like I was fitting in pretty well with the crowd. They were giving me a lot of energy at the beginning of the round, pulling for me, and I was able to play well, make a few great bunker shots, something that I've been working on a lot lately, and I feel like that short game is kind of coming up and helping me have those better rounds when the game is not as good, and I can still be able to shoot low.

It's special to have the short game on my back, and yeah, it was a tough day at the end. I was able to hit great shots and finish on 18 with a little bit of style, too, having the crowds in the background. It was special.

Q. Somebody told me that this is the first time your mother has ever seen you win in person; is that true?

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it is true. As a professional on my tour, she hadn't seen me win on the PGA TOUR and not here, either, so yeah, it's pretty special.

Q. This is your third win this season. Can you be stopped?

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Hopefully not. (Smiling).

Q. Now you're in the U.S. Open so you'll be playing all three of the rest of the majors this year. How gratifying is that, and how much do you want to make a splash during the major season the rest of this year?

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, I was actually -- my team was asking me to sign up for the qualifier and the sectional, and I wasn't really into that, so more than anything I'm grateful that I'm not playing 36 holes on a Monday after a tournament. Yeah, I'm pretty happy.

Q. This is your fifth win. You and Brooks now have the most wins in LIV Golf history. You've obviously carved out quite a career since joining LIV Golf. Can you talk about that, about the success you've had, not just today, not just this season but really since you've been here?

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, I mean, it's special to be up there with Brooks as most wins. I mean, it's just been three years since I joined here on LIV, and I feel like it's a special place right now for me to be here and I can become the most winner on the league. Yeah, it's something that I'm looking forward to that, and I'm going to work hard for that.

Q. I want to ask you about, you got a pretty good break on 16. That was certainly a decisive stretch. Can you talk about that stretch and maybe that break?

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, obviously after Bryson hit that driver OB on the right on 13, I hit a great driver there, and I was able to take some advantage. On the next hole, on the par-3, I did a really bad three-putt there. I misjudged that green the whole week. That green was -- I don't know what happened with that green, but it was doing the opposite that I was thinking it was doing every day.

But after that, I hit good shots. Like you said, I got lucky on 16. I had a 9-iron, and my caddie told me to aim left of the pin, and I was trying to do that and I just pushed it a little bit. He told me there were going to be trees there, but worst case scenario it was going to be in that bunker. Still a good chance to make up-and-down. I just started hearing a lot of claps from the crowd going crazy, and I realized a little bit of luck is never bad.

Q. Sundays have been very good for you.

JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it's been great.
