Quick Quotes
Q. I am here with Lindy Duncan. Lindy, bogey-free round today, two birdies. How hard did it feel to go bogey-free today, and how important was par in this round?
LINDY DUNCAN: Yep, it was definitely a grind would be an understatement. I think I hit 12 greens, and I had some good looks for birdie. But for the most part, I was just a little bit long in the fringes. The pins were very tough today, so you kind of had to miss on the long side on a couple of them. So I did that.
But yeah, a lot of really good saves on the front, and the bunker shot on the back nine was about 41 yards, and I hit a pitching wedge, and that was the highlight of my week. That was super cool. So to save par there felt like a birdie.
Q. You're playing in the last group on championship Sunday at a major. What are your feelings on that right now?
LINDY DUNCAN: So cool. I'm living my dream right now.
Q. Speaking of that, did you ever picture yourself in this moment, and if you did, what did those visions look like?
LINDY DUNCAN: Yeah, it's different than how you imagine. It's really the same -- you're doing the exact same thing. It's just there's so many more people and there's cameras everywhere. But it's really fun and you definitely feel the vibes and the energy from all the people out there watching and supporting us, and they were so great to us, especially a bunch of people came out on the back nine. So it was really fun.
Q. What kind of confidence does it give you having kept yourself in check today with that much pressure, this difficult of a golf course, challenging conditions and in a final group and going into tomorrow? Does it give you a lot of confidence that you managed all of these things today?
LINDY DUNCAN: Definitely. I definitely feel that way because there was a lot -- like you just mentioned, you summed it up perfectly. To be able to play today, I just played my game and hung in there, and I feel like that gives me a ton of confidence for sure.
Q. Is winning a tournament, winning a major, is that something that still keeps you motivated and why you're out here?
LINDY DUNCAN: Definitely. Definitely. This is the biggest stage for us. The toughest courses, the toughest tests and the most pressure, so yeah, just got to go out there and just play your game.
Q. What would you say was the toughest part that you've had along your journey to get you to this point?
LINDY DUNCAN: Yeah, there's been a lot of tough moments for sure. I lost my card in '21, and it was tough to get it back. That two-year process, I had to do a lot of work on and off the course, and I'm really grateful for it now because I think it's showing up in my game and also the way I can handle myself out there.
Q. What was one of your fun side gigs? Did you do something else in addition to playing golf?
LINDY DUNCAN: No, just a lot of thought about do I want to do this for a living, do I want to keep doing this. So that was kind of the stuff that I had to think about.
Q. What's your mantra for tomorrow?
LINDY DUNCAN: My mantra for tomorrow would be to trust my instincts.
Q. When you talk about that and having to tell yourself mentally I can still do this and having to go back to Q-school a couple seasons in a row, was there ever a point you think you didn't want to do it anymore, and if so, what made you talk yourself out of it and just keep trucking on?
LINDY DUNCAN: Yeah, definitely. The year that I spent playing Epson, I pretty much decided this is not what I want to do. I want to -- this didn't feel like my game. I just didn't feel like myself.
There was definitely many moments where I was thinking of a future without playing. But what kept me in it was I still just love it. I still love the tournaments, and I still feel like my game was in there. I was just like, where are you.
But through some work, I started to see little bits here and there and then putting rounds together, I just kind of kept believing in myself.
Q. I don't want to ask what tomorrow would mean, but it's going to be life-changing regardless of the result. What do you expect after this week for yourself and for your confidence and your game just looking ahead to the rest of the year no matter what happens tomorrow?
LINDY DUNCAN: Yeah, I think no matter what happens this is a huge moment for me in my golf career to play in the final group of a major today and to play bogey free on a tough day. I'll remember that for a long time. Tomorrow there's so many things out of my control, and if I can play my game, maybe I'll have a chance.
Q. You smiled big when you're like, it's a dream come to play in the final pairing. Did you ever have this on a vision board or anything like that?
LINDY DUNCAN: Not really, but that's the goal. The ultimate goal is to be there with a chance on Sunday. So to be in the final group, you're just right there.
Q. Who do you have out here with you that'll be following you tomorrow?
LINDY DUNCAN: My mom is here this week, and then my caddie is from here, Steven Newby, and we've been having a blast.
